Still haven't found any photos that might lead to a maker's ID. I'm thinking it's cowhide, but don't really know what it is. I've been judiciously conditioning it and trying to shape the collar a bit. It's softening up from the dryness, but is still a considerably stiff leather. Today I sprayed the lining a bit with vinegar to see if it would get rid of a some of musty odor that seems to be in the wool.

Have a good evening,
Michael

Hey Radz108,

Your HB has a detail I have not noticed on other Half Belts, even the Premium line… the zipper starts a little higher from the bottom, maybe 2-inches vs. about 1 on most, and the zipper end is riveted to the leather.

I think this is a good idea, as it allows some flex or stretch when sitting, and adds extra protection to the fragile zip start area.

Is this something you specifically asked for?

The zipper I got is the Hookless grommet zipper. It’s actually standard on Aero’s premium line. I think the Premier HB design has the zipper start a little bit higher from the bottom hem compared to the standard HB.
In regards to the hookless zipper, the design has its strengths and weaknesses. Due to the rivets, it seems more sturdy compared to the standard talons Aero uses. However, the zipper can be finicky and prone to misalignment if you are not careful with it.
