After a weekend of abuse I’ve decided to let the 5 star come up for air. If you are not a fan of faux distressing close this tab! LOL. I probably could’ve done a better job of it if I intended to keep it this way. Two coats of conditioner and some sealant later....easy enough to strip and go full cordo but I’ll see how this wears for now. I can’t decide if I love it or it’s the worst looking mall distress I’ve ever seen...

I see what you mean. I will say it looks more interesting than the original. The distressing does not look natural (that is super-difficult to do and only Thedi pulls it off, but he is, well, Zeus).

I kind of like it, but I do see your dilemma.

Now that is some great styling! Like your new beard arrangement too. That’s what Erol Flynn would look these days…!

Haha, thank you! It started off as shaving mistake but then I realized I really like it. :D Also, wanted to say something in the sale thread but decided it's best not to because it's a sale thread but you got a really great looking & fitting Schott there and that is a rare thing.

Yeah I go from loving it to thinking it looks way too over the top. I may try some less invasive means of subtlety darkening the leather before another bout of acetone and dye.

I think a redye job would add another layer of color and depth. Either way though, I'd rather wear what you did than the terrible color that arrived.

Bought a cape buffalo “vintage” G-1 from U.S. Wings. Not 100% mil-spec accurate but a really well-made jacket with real mouton fur collar (faded honey blonde) and the cape buffalo leather is very thick (1.2-1.3mm, according to their website), heavy yet soft and pliable. Has a great WWII vibe to it. In the second pic you can see how it compares to an original M-422a (Flying Tiger) jacket. Many Navy aviators wore their jackets looser (and the M-422a jackets were longer in general than the later G-1 models). This longer/looser fit is exactly what I wanted when I ordered this one from U.S. Wings (they were running a 20% off sale at the time, so I couldn’t resist!).

I think it looks fine, but perhaps tone down a little the spots that is too dark, these dark spots make it too fake. And imho dont polish it all shiny everywhere, pick few spots that should be shiny, collar fold and edges, cuff, some raised part on the inner elbow honeycomb, edges of the pocket, near zipperbox, and leave everything else in soft sheen and matte.
