What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Finished this test flight jacket, lots of French seams, tricky cuff and above-the-waistband top stitching.

How come you didn't stitch the collar? Oh, and how do you do those decorative lines around the pockets? What makes them puffy?

should have worn your hand vintaged 5* and counts the likes, probably will give you a peace of mind :)
Too late. He went back in the tub Sunday night, will get another round of Acetone. I didn’t like the look of it. Like a bruised banana. Cordo dye arrives tomorrow and will be the weekend project. This is it. The last attempt.

I thought you're going to leave it closer to natural leather. Good luck with the cordovan then :)

Unfortunately my newborn pig skin tone won’t allow for that. Plus, the darker areas, I don’t think they will fade down any more so I have to bring the lighter to a darker color to reduce the contrast.

Makes sense, I liked the lighter tones but it's always harder to brighten the dark areas than the other way around so I get that.

Great question, this is actually a very unique collar design by Monarch. I’ve never seen it on any leather jacket elsewhere other than on a Sears 70s rockabilly type jacket (think East West), which is somewhat similar. Otherwise it’s somewhat typical of 30s style denim jackets. This collar is a one-piece. The Monarch that inspired me had no top stitching around the collar, at first it’s bizzare but after a while it actually looks very cool. It’s almost naked but very unique. To me it’s like a Tesla car, lacks machine-like details and smooth as a butt, almost missing things, but cool after a while.

congrats looks great!! , better and better everytime:)
I can’t wait to post a fit pic of my female customer, she’s away, but last time when I had her try on the incomplete version of this, it looks really great (like how a GW A2 looks on John on his website).

Recently I got my Brother's Golden Bear HH Bayshore Jacket in for a zipper slider repair. 6yrs mark now with 2nd lining and more or less daily wear. Teacore at it's best... that's the real deal I strive after but never achieve, lol!

More detail shoots on my insta account :)

Edit/Note: Golden Bear Sportswear is nothing special these days but with this teacore leather used on the Bayshore Jacket some yrs ago, they nailed it!

Wow! What kind of horsehide was this? And this was a new/current production GB when bought?

I don't know where the HH leather came from. It's a midweight leather, I guess 2.5 oz. It was offered for the Bayshore jacket which came onto the market about 6/7 years ago. The jacket in general (apart from the leather) is of mediocre quality. The body and sleeve lining had to be completely replaced. Also the zipper slider (no brand) but I think it's a YKK, had to be replaced too. It's a typical jacket that was made for profit, hence the mediocre components...

I've been wearing it today for a bit of shopping, the jacket feels more solid with the heavy cotton lining comparing to the quilted lining on the CR.

Dude, everything is perfect in your jacket! if 5 stars have a serial jacket, what is it called?? if this is custom, then 5 stars should think about launching this project in a series with some interesting name..for example ( sauvage))))

Thank you! It's a custom design, I didn't get it from their website. No idea if they will put it on the website though or give it a name, although sauvage sounds good :D
