So I went to Sephora and the one I went to did not have Illamasqua in the store. I also wanted to look at the Guerlain lipstick, and they didn't have that in store either. I was bummed.

I'm sorry that your store didn't have it Christy - my local one doesn't either. I took a chance with Illamasqua and ordered online and loved everything I received. I'm so obsessed with their eyeliner cake/sealing gel that I *almost* want to wear makeup every day, haha.

You can also order online and return within 60 days to any Sephora store. they have a very forgiving return policy.

I went to Sephora just before the holidays and of the six or seven things on my list they did not have any of them - very unusual that I left empty handed!

Inky,

I'll probably end up ordering some things online so it's good to hear that Sephora has a good return policy. I think what was the worst was that I never get to go to Sephora so I had all of these big plans of trying a bunch of stuff and leaving with some fun things and I left empty handed. It always seems to work out that way: when I plan to shop and have money to spend I can't find anything I want and when I don't have any money and can only look I find a bunch of things I want! [huh]

I did find some lip glosses I was interested in but I couldn't make up my mind on which color to get so I just left. lol I later admitted to my fiance that I was mainly interested in them because of the cute boxes they came in. He just laughed at this and said, "I knew it!"

At the moment I am in love with Lipstick Queen's http://www.lipstickqueen.com/index.htm Red Sinner and Red Saint lipsticks. It's the same shade of 40s red but the Sinner formula is a matte 90% pigment formula and the Saint formula is a sheer 10% pigment (more like a balm) formula, perfect for wearing with summer dresses and playsuits at the beach :) I also adore their Medieval lipstick/balm for the summer as well.

Maybelline Superstay 743

I've been using Maybelline Superstay 743 and am very satisfied with it. I don't like retouching my lipstick often, so this works like a dream. Plus, it doesn't dry my lips out like other long wear lipcolors I've tried.

I use 745 (wine) I Love it too!
My only complaint is that after a few hours it flakes off a little around the edges of my mouth. But you can't have everything. It is a great longwearing lipstick, so well infact that it is sometime hard to remove at the end of the day.

Those of you who wear longwearing lipsticks how do you remove them?

Pond's cold cream takes mine right off without a problem. I just rub in some cold cream and then wipe it off with a warm, damp washcloth.

I swear by Ruby Woo by MAC, it is just the perfect colour and I love how matte it is and the fact it really stays put!

I also have a number of the old mattene shades that are now discontinued, which I bought in the hope that they would be as matte as Ruby Woo but it seems not. If you apply, blot, apply and blot again you seem to get a good outcome, but I am fast running out of my Classic Dame and I can't seem to find another one anywhere!

Same problem here, with them being discontinued. I've got Classic Dame and 40's pink and love them both and can't seem to find a good enough match anywhere. Its funny how tiny nuances in colour make such a difference...

As of last night I fell in love with Julie Hewett's Belle Noir. It's so hard for me to find warm reds with a hint of orange and this one is right on the money. I am also quite fond of Oona Noir. It's a fab sheer brick red that's good for a more casual look. Methinks it's time to place an order...

Stand By Cheapy

My stand by red lip stick is by New York Color (N.Y.C.) and the color is called Sheer Red. It's Red but not too Red. It is very inexpensive - like 99 cents at Target or Walmart. This brand also has a color called Vintage that is a more bright red. I use the Vintage Red also - mostly when going out at night.

On my trip to Walgreens yesterday to pick up kleenex and sudafed, I just happen to notice that Revlon's ColorStay was buy one get one. I picked up Top Tomato and I LOVE it. I was worried it would be a little orangy as most tomato named shades are but it's a really good blue red for my complexion.

My daughter likes it too.

Just like Mummy, she wanted to wear some red lipstick too. Took me four goes with the Ponds to get it all off her face. So... ten points to Revlon for making a "ColorStay" makeup that won't come off!

I've recently discovered, much to my dismay, that MAC has discontinued the shade "Glam", which was a great pinkish-toned matte red.

However, they now have MAC Red, which is a creamier shade, also with a lot of pink undertones and oh my, is it lovely!

My Mom surprised me with a lippy from Bare Minerals - she wears the foundation and concealer and decided to get me a little something too (aww, thanks Mom! :D ). The color is "Red Delicious" - not a true red, almost rosy - but the texture is creamy and once you blot it, the staying power is exceptional.

Cover Girl Outlast Lip Stain

Has anyone tried this relatively new Cover Girl Outlast LipStain?

http://www.covergirl.com/products/product.jsp?productId=outlast_lipstain

My local drug store had buy one/get one free Cover Girl products and my mascara needed replacing (it was budgeted for on my NSB!!) - i didn't want two mascaras because I wouldn't use it up fast enough, so I thought I'd try this product.

I am pleasantly surprised - I purchased the Wild Berry Wink shade 440 and on me it is a true blue red tone. It's a stain rather than a lipstick and applies like a magic marker so no lip pencil is needed. You do want your lips to be exfoliated as I can see this would show every dry skin flake otherwise. My lips do not feel dry and the result is a soft matte look - a great everyday look and not as "made up" looking as lipstick.

I've had it on all day now and the color is true and not coming off. According to the website you can layer this product for deeper intensity but I haven't tried that - it's pretty dark just with one application.

It retails for around $8.99.

I've been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear in Stay Scarlet. Nice true red that lasts and lasts, and doesn't dry you out or require a topcoat. I think it was around $20-$25.

Elizabeth Arden is celebrating 100 years of business with a new limited edition lippie called Red Door Red.

I haven't tried it yet but I did want to mention it because all of the proceeds go to an amazing global charitable organization called Look Good...Feel Better, designed to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem, and thereby manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence.
