To me, the Femme Noir is just like my Russian Red except not drying my lips out!
Rouge Noir is very beautiful, I will wear this when I really wanna POW look.. like out on the town or something, Femme Noir to me is more of my Office Lipstick :)

Hope this helps ladies!

thank you for taking the time to do that - the swatch comparisons are a perfect way to decide for me!

they look very nice!! I am so in love with Illamasqua right now that I'll keep Julie Hewitt on my wish list.

I bought a new red, True Red from L'oreal, and I'm not sure it suits me. It's brighter than I normally wear (Besame Merlot). What do you ladies think?

I think it is prfect :) I haven't see it on you but I would think Merlot is a bit too dark/muted perhaps?

Thankyou so much for those swatches, LelaViavonie! I had never head of that brand. Has anyone tried the "coco noir" shade?

New Illamasqua Swatches

One of Sephora's downfalls is seeing color swatches for most of their products - they really need to revamp that.

Anyway, Illamasqua has done just that and since it's my new favorite lippie, I thought i'd share - good big color samples and when you click on the image for the color, you get an even larger picture of the lipstick and how it looks on actual real lips (for most of the colors)

http://www.illamasqua.com/shop/catalogue/category/lips/products/lipstick/26/

i could go on an on how much I love this lipstick. I just picked up Tramp so I'll do some swatching after the thanksgiving holiday!

Woo!!! Inky knows what I'm talking about! ;)

Is it just me, or do the names of their colors rock? lol

Well that isn't very nice :(

I looked over the red Illamasqua shades online, and they are quite lovely. (Their own online store ships to the North!)

I bought a tube of Revlon's matte Really Red, and its a bit lighter/brighter than I was expecting but I like it, I think. I JUST wore it for the first time today so I still have to decide. It was on sale so I grabbed it.

I always use MAC Brick lip liner and then Viva Glam I, in winter/autumn at least. During the summer I usually use Ruby Woo lipstick.

I am still trying to find a vegan version of these lipsticks, but I just can't find the right one.. [huh] One by Urban Decay came closest, color-wise, but was way too sheer and shiny for me. Shucks that I also have to order them all over the internet as there's no store here that sells vegan red lipstick :( So for the time being I'm still using up my supply of MAC lipsticks.

illamasqua

I'm going up north tomorrow and one place I'm going to for sure is Sephora! I feel so deprived not having a Sephora close by. Anyway, I'm really excited to check out the illamasqua lipsticks. I don't even know why I look at other reds because I only ever use one color (a discontinued Clinique shade) and I've never used another (I'm a creature of habit), but maybe it's time to venture out. I might look at more of rose color and perhaps a burgundy.

I tried on YSL's Rouge Pur lipstick in #131 Opium Red... its the truest red I have ever tried on! (most reds turn pink or orange on me)
I don't have a pic, but do you other gals know it?

Opium Red is on my want list -- glad to hear you like it! It has great reviews over on Makeup Alley. I recently bought a fuschia Rouge Pur and think it's a great formula. Feels weightless and it's very long lasting!

So I went to Sephora and the one I went to did not have Illamasqua in the store. I also wanted to look at the Guerlain lipstick, and they didn't have that in store either. I was bummed.

It's so frustrating how different Sephoras carry different brands. I hope you're able to find the Guerlain lipsticks near you; their lipsticks are my favorites! If worse comes to worse, you can always order through the Sephora website; that's what I do for products they don't carry in the stores.

I think I'll end up having to order online. I was visiting my brother and he lives 4 hours away so that's the only time I get to go to Sephora, there might be a store up there that carries Guerlain though. I'm glad to hear that you like them though. It's always good to hear reviews first.

Where did you hear about Julie Hewett? I discovered the line on Mybabyjo and contacted them for samples...they were nice enough to send me a few products to try and demonstrate on my YT channel. I absolutely ADORE the double pigmented liipsticks. The Femme Noir and the Sin Noir are my favorites and I wear both of them often. They are the only reds I wear besides my Besame' shades. Yay, Julie Hewett!! (incidentally, I think the lipsticks are great and worth the money but I think most of the other stuff on their site is overpriced.)

I wear maybelline moisture extreme E230 Real Raisin Red! I cannot pull off orange-reds at all b/c I am Irish pale so they always look orange on me. The plum or brown reds actually look RED on me!

I picked up a free tube of MAC's Ruby Woo yesterday (yay for their recycling program!) It took me forever to collect 6 containers since I only use their Studio Fix, haha. Anyway, I wore the lipstick today and I got a lot of compliments! I love the color, it's just a bit too dry on my lips. But I like the matte-ness of it and how easily it goes on. Maybe I just need to put on some chapstick before I apply it. I was originally going to get the Russian Red since I read somewhere (either here or somewhere else) that the only difference between the two is the texture, so I thought the Russian Red might not be as drying but they were out! And the MUA that was helping me said Ruby Woo was her favorite anyway so I decided to get it. Overall though, I really like it and it's my new favorite color next to my Besame Red. :D
