I like this. A diamond with some character. The rear sloping points are something I want to try.
Here's a better shot for reference , Mike. I guess I kinda went a little overboard with this one.... but the felt is

really clay like and sculpting is fun!

Here is how my "Lion Hats" Whippet clone project is comming along.....after some more brushing and complete reblocking with some steam.....
I am generally happy with the pinches....they have more depth and complexity than is visable in the photo's.......I am still working on the crown....with my big head I cannot go for too much depth.....
Age still puzzles me as does the unwelted sweat.......I really do love the color.....

Nice hat, no one could tell that you are not wearing a $700 Ebay Stetson Whippet. Stealth.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT!!!!!
Ok.....so I got this Imperial Stetson.....supposed to be a Dexter but this one has a shorter brim (liittle over 2 3/8). Crown had tapered some......more than usual for this model.....wonderful rich dark brown felt....
So......I pulled the liner...(which was a bit of a mess.....)..wet the crown and completely opened up and reblocked the crown. THEN the idea for anouther regular fedora went awry........and I ended up with this....

Thats right....a modified version of the tri-pinch.......normally seen on a weatern or campaign style hat. Looks very well in person....gives it a sporty outdoorsman sort of look in the vein of the "country" hats made my many companies and quite popular in the 40's and 50's. Every once in a while some country bumpkin or farmer in the movies of those times shows up with something simular.....especially in the "Noir" films.
I think I truly lost my mind....
Hope you enjoy.....

I like it. I've done that to a couple of my westerns. I call it a modified Montana Peak. I'll have to try it on a fedora. Another campdraft may be in order.

Well done.

I'd like to see it on your head.

Well, I will be waering it tomorrow and for the next few days......I will see what can be done....

Thank you........it turned out well and looks quite nice in person.....especially with the rich color and finish this hat has......I left the brim with the slight curved flange.....crease seems to look nice with the brim up, or down or somewhere in between.............the front pinches are deaper and go back further than normal.....not sure it is evident in the photos...
