What is your favorite hat crease?

Thought this study belonged here. This is a Circa 1935 Multigraph Photo postcard of cowboy author Will James from my collection.

Thanks Dan.

First I removed the liner, but I wanted to clean it good anyway. Then I misted the crown down lightly with distilled water, then steamed the are to crease. Started with the basic shape outline then kept working it with steam and fingers until getting it pretty smooth. Then from inside the hat I used a Popsicle stick to get the narrow crease along the outline and start pushing up the telescoping center. Lot's of steam and shaping and smoothing with fingers until just right.

This Resistol 3X Beaver Hi-Sierra has a 6 1/2” open crown so there was lots to work with. The watched Alan’s video doing a double diamond telescope crease on a per-war 5X CB, and thought I’d give it a try. Who knew that 1970s 3X can’t do what 1930s-40s 5X CB can do?
Still, I rather like how it turned out:

Brent; Thanks for sharing. Well done on the double diamond. It looks sharp.

I like it far more the way you've creased it with the lower crown height and the slightly more relaxed brim. Great color, and the felt appears to be in very good condition. But what do you think? Regular rotation, or a once-in-a-while hat?

Thanks, Al. I might lower the bumpers a bit more too before I’m done. I think it will get a place in the rotation, but it won’t get worn all that much. I’m hoping for an early autumn and some cool weather so I can wear more felt.
