J. Hückel´s Söhne "Sigma Foulard" "Seal Velour" possibly late 1920s early 1930s. The close cropped black Velour is really fantastic with very high gloss and is light in weight. This hat was restored by Optimo back in 2009.

You and the MG both look fabulous, and I'm sure Tina did as well!
Thank you Mark, the event isn't on until Friday week, the 8th, but the lady is already planning her outfit.
Very nice, Robert. Let's hope OddJob doesn't turn un up!
Indeed Stefan, when Oddjob takes his hat off to you....................................worry!

Got the recycled Stylemaster through a gas bath and liner cleaning yesterday. All clean now, and I DID manage to get most of the big ink stain off the underside of the brim. Little bit still there, but its liveable now. Ill spend a little more time with q-tips and mineral spitits and see if I can coax a little more blue out of the felt. The ribbon has some fading so I may do a new darker ribbon. Ive got another newer Acorn Stylemaster just like it anyway, so Im thinking another one with more ribbon contrast would be nice. Its going to be a great foul weather hat (one that I dont have to worry about)

Debating maybe removing the ribbon and trying a bit of dye job on the it before I throw it out.. Just need to do a little research on dying grosgrain and making sure I can set it fully. Being a not-so-old hat, Im assuming its a synthetic grosgrain so Ill need to figure out the proper dye. Since its a lighter color felt, Id sure hate to have a brown dye leach out into the felt.. May be safer to just use new ribbon.

Waiting for the rain so start up this morning ( looks like 4-5 solid days of rain and thunderstorms coming up) Figured a nice used Akubra was perfect for it!

My morning soirée was taken wearing a Stetson St. Regis.

This morning's coffee helped to get me more alert. I wore a Stetson Whippet on this Whippet Wednesday.

I do get comments and long looks when out and about in my hats. This morning even more so. I went to the butcher shop and got a car wash under a hat I seldom wear. The comments were very Minnesotan. Comments like "interesting hat," "you usually wear hats with bigger brims," "bold bowler," and "you look like an English nobel." I challenged my "neighbors" this morning.

Weathers about to change! Bright and sunny to north east and west.. Jet black to south and heading this way. Heading out with the Akubra Lawson for an errand... shade for now and cover if it starts raining before I get back ( Seems when it rains I always get caught 1/2 way between the Walmart front door and my truck lol)

Looks like about half the Pecan tree leaves have fallen in the last 24 hrs...( have lost a LOT of shade) nuts falling to the ground every 2-3 seconds... guess I need to get the pecan roller rake out before it rains. Got about 4 gallons of pecans picked up yesterday.... Ill bet there are at least that many more today ( Im cheap... I send big boxes of cracked pecans to friends and family for the holidays instead of spending a lot of money on gifts... hoping someday Ill get some cookies or something back in return lol)

The Lawson is the nicest thing my ex wife ever gave me... we went over to David Morgan in Washington and picked it out as a birthday present. Wore it on a roadtrip all over British Columbia and Alberta for a couple weeks afterwards

I have to admit I kinda like the patina myself. it matches one or two little spots on the brim binding. Anyone can put a perfect new ribbon on a hat, but it will never match the look of a worn in ribbon. SInce this one was picked up to be a foul weather fall/ winter hat, Im starting to think I may just leave as is.... it looks just fine against the brick wall of the coffee shop... And no one in Walmart or the grocery store gave me any funny looks....lol
As much as we all love when we find a vintage hat in like new condition. Some of my favorites are the ones with special character like this

Reminds me of mornings at the family farm near Cookeville Tn! Hills along the edges and mist down by the branch.
I know Cookeville… my in-laws had a place up in Spencer. We would go down the mountain to Cookeville if we wanted to go into town for dinner, which had more dining options than the first town over Sparta (and liquor on premises) We loved that whole area!
