Good morning. Business travel / work this week found me not wearing hats/caps. Home this weekend found me wearing hats in the cooler Minnesota temps.

Dobbs Leisure Light.

A bit later today. Had a sitting yesterday with four friend to make a dent in this row of bottles. We did admirably but didn't finish all of them.

Exceptional hat, Randall!
Thanks, Stefan
I have a real cowboy type friend who is well off, yet buys cheap 80s westerns from me, but can’t seem to make himself spend “big money on a hat”
But then complains when his post 60s hats get rained on and the dye washes out of em into his clothes, or quickly thickens and irretrievably misshapen.
If I could just talk him into spending $3/400 on a 50s 3X or 7XCB he’d find out the difference between a cheap Stetson and a real Stetson.
Once upon a time I didn’t know, but finally gave in and spent the extra to find out.
And as you know, the best way to realize just how great these old hats are is to tear em apart, reblock and restore several while comparing that experience with reworking cheap hats.
It’s funny, I’ve tried explaining the difference to several types of folks, but most look at you like you’re just hat crazy.
And, I am, but….

Here’s another example of great old felt that I got this week.
This 30s “Leisure Light” Dobbs felt only needed a good cleaning.
Has the old Cavanagh Edge logo stamp.
Still have to reattach the old sweat bow, but it’s soaking in water and bleach.

Edit: just now noticed I got photo bombed by one of our skillions of skeeters! :)
Must’ve been attracted to the vintage pearl gray felt, same as me.

This little Towncraft looked brown in the ebay pic, but was a definate nice grey when it came out of the box. Had to do a double-take to make sure I got the right hat. In the process of steaming and brushing, Ive decided this little lid must be made out of Chameleon fur lol... In bright light its grey, but in subdued light its decidedly brown ... Nice little inexpensive hat! Bound brim, nice medium weight smooth felt.

Nice hat. I also like the way you store your hats up side down.
