Good day. My morning walkabout was under the brim of a Cowboy straw. No name straw did its duty easily.

Back home and enjoying my morning coffee. Early morning breeze is keeping the bugs at bay. I changed to a "Genuine Panama." Lovely pug on this Stetson panama.

A bunch of errands was up next. I switched to a 60's Stetson milan hat. Great hat for $10.95.

I grilled some sausages and paired it with peas and wild rice for breakfast. I wore a "Imported Genuine Panama" during my breakfast efforts.

What a fabulous couple, love the hats and something else caught my eye. The car's paintwork, the two-tone stripe is nothing new, but it is still very effective.

The Borsalino Nembo, love the clean lines, the colour and the sharp appearance. Compliments to you Stefan.

Ruby & The 2023 MG NFR 005.JPG

Today was the 2023 MG run through The New Forest. You can just make out the two-tone stripe similar to that in Bob's photo. MG types are getting used to us, but we still got photographed more than the car. Both Tina's hat and mine are bespoke. There's a lady at church who is very talented at making straw hats, she it was who made Tina's. Mine came from Gamble & Gunn, made to measure and to compliment the trousers.

Thanks Robert. You and the missus look fantastic as usual as does the MG.

The Jeep is a 2017 Wrangler "Chief" edition. It was limited to around 3,500 produced. We bought it off a dealer lot on our way to Goodwill (no ... really).

It was based on the 2016 concept car Jeep Cherokee that was a throw-back to the 1970s colors and graphics.

Great story Bob, my car is called an MG YB, what I wanted was a car like this, called the MG TD.

But as my lady said, she didn't mind me buying a classic MG, however, open top cars, with all the pollen and airborne dust, together with her asthma, not a good idea. That's how we came to have the hard top version.
Besides, how long would our hats have lasted had we had an open-top car?

Thanks, Robert. You and Tina were having a great day out by the looks of it. Wonderful!

Mayser "Stella Steif Federlicht / Stiff Feather Light" made for Huthase / Hat Hare possibly later 1920s to early 1930s. This is a really fantastic Fur Felt (Haar.filz) Stiff Felt made by Mayser Ulm. I really like the dimensions and form. The sweatband leather is especially comfortable. Huthase had stores in Dresden, Chemnitz, and Leipzig. I found this Stiff Felt back in 2019.

HutHase (Hat Hare) Dresden Chemnitz Leipzig, H. Pohl Leipzig W-31 "Silka Carton D.R.G.N.". This Carton was made for a Stiff Felt or Silk Top Hat so perfect for Mayser "Stella Steif Federlicht", Huthase Stiff Felt. I have a few similar style Cartons so popular in the time period. I found the Carton back in 2017.

very Nice, Stefan. Is the binding wider on the underside of the Faunosca…. Or is it a few rows of decorative stitching. Nembo looking quite fresh… and the Stetsonian is a standout!

There's a lot to love!

Very nice, Joe. Always fun to see a hat come back to life under a good dose of steam.
Thanks Stefan.. it really is… and also interesting the properties of different felts and how they will react. And the of course there is that steamed felt smell.
Such an interesting hat—kind of a crossover. Looks great!
Thank you David. I agree. My guess is that was one of his “go to town“ kinda hats. I do not know if the ribbon is original or not. If memory serves when I was inspecting under the sweat there was a small tear/whole in the felt on the bow side covered up by this wider ribbon. But I didn’t see any evidence of a previous ribbon… not sure I necessarily would though.

One day I will get around to posting his “Work Hats”. Talk about distressed!

An interesting box to go with a great hat, Steve.
