The hat for a sunny Sunday

Borsalino Qualità Superiore completely unlined, size 60 cm. or 7 1/2 in US.

I wore it today because the felt is light, malleable and in tune with the changing color of the leaves

We took a long walk and the air warmed up in the middle of the day.

It goes without saying that the hat did not come out of Borsalino this way, Fleur put his hand to obtain a "quality" result

First time out with this old Stetson No. 1:

The heathered felt is absolutely luscious and will do anything you want it to do. Hands down the crown jewel of my collection. I'd like to think I'll look this good when I'm 100+ years old but let's be honest, I'll be dead.

A beautiful looking felt, Daniele. Wonderful colour. Fleur knows more than a thing or two about bringing vintage hats back to life. Her hand is of consistent quality!

Stetson Morgan, first, fine and fair day to pull out the felt. This stingy brim with a diamond crown was my first rabbit fur hat and the one to make me fall in love with hats.

Royal Stetson Whippet
Medium to Dark Bluish Grey
4 3/4 crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 open)
1 5/8 black grosgrain ribbon
2 1/2 brim with 3/8 grey grosgrain binding

Though I’ve been making an effort limit the arrival of new hats of late and I had been doing fairly well until four hats were special enough to slip past my ‘HAS’ defenses in the same week. But I do have to think if you have a 4 hat week and the hat you are least excited about is a Stetson Whippet… it’s probably a real good hat week. This whippet is definitely not without its faults though it came at a price I could not pass up. Could use a cleaning in some spots…. There is a small tear in the rear of the brim I will attempt to repair… and the sweat has some tears. And while a steaming may be in its near future… A good brushing allowed it to shape nicely and revealed its real nice real nice coloring.

The fourth hat by the way will have to wait for a little bit longer as the seller is a bit delayed in their shipping… but I do believe it will not disappoint.

Wearing my latest conversion project. This one started out as a 6 5/8 Biltmore Western. I blocked it up to a tall and straight sided 7 1/4 LO. The open crown on this is 6 inches tall. As creased, the crown is 5 inches all around and is 4 5/8 inches at the pinch with a rake sloping to 4 1/4 in the back. I gave it a deep teardrop crease with a tight pinch. The brim is 2 5/8 inches wide. The ribbon and bow work came off of a vintage donor hat and is black at 1 5/8 wide. The pictures aren't very good and don't show the hat's true color...
