What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Thanks, Joe. The cerrated label with the straight sides left and right is roughly connected with the period 1961-1965.

Thank you, Joe. It's more of a cream colour (as I recall yours is more a real white) and indeed it is fairly solid for a European hat. Very pettable though.
Thanks for that info Stefan. Definitely close enough for me. Yours quite beautiful either way.

Run, shower and then a change of hats for "puttering" around the yard.

The Champ panama, "South American Genuine Panama," is airy and comfy on second day this spring that will get to 80'f (27'c). Not hot by many of the Lounge folks standards. I see your locations and google the temps. Seriousely, you folks have hot days. To me, this start of the 2020 warm season is steamy. Hopefully I will quickly adapt to the seasonal norm.

"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." I am remembering this Memorial Day weekend all those who have served in the US service and for those who have sacrificed with their lives our freedoms. My family, like many, has personal observances.

Stellar hat, Steve. Great series this and a nice reminder how many wonderful there were (and with any luck still are).
Stefan, Thank you! I have some more but will start something new today.

Great looking "Bristol" today. I really like the felt ribbon color combo and bow design. This is a trademark I searched (a while ago) for but came up empty.

So classic, love that color. The pug/ribbon is so period. Fantastic straw Eric.

Your collection is so incredible, both winter and summer. The pug on this one really catches the eye!

You do have some style my friend. Love the weave on that crown. Stay safe.

Same Scala as the other day, but now I have a couple more hat to choose from while “isolating” at the farm. Not all my size and not hats that I would normally go out of my way (or deep into my pocket) for, but at $10 each I couldn’t leave them there. Maybe they’ll finance a better hat in the near future.

If there was ever a "gentleman farmer" hat, this is it!! I would buy all they had in my size.

Headed over to future son-in-law’s for a cookout. Nice and cool here today. Chose my nicest Montecristi re-blocked by Art Fawcett.

First world problems...having to pick which Monti to wear. Is envy one of the deadly sins? Oh well, I love this one anyway. Impressive my friend!

Day 25 of 31 Hat Parade: A little late again, we napped before our daily walk as it was raining this morning. The weather is going to be getting hotter over the next few days so Straw Hats are in order. Tonight, my "Ben Affleck" wild looking weave from Homero Ortega in Ecuador. My friend's wife is from there, so on visits he brings back some interesting Cuenca straws. This is more of a tourist hat, some at the Ortega store are in the five figures! I love it for a quick grab and go when I want to feel a little sporty. There was a picture of Ben Affleck wearing one of these in the show room, hence the moniker.

This week I will feature P. & C. Habig Wien & Berlin Hats. The hats will be from the 1920s up to the 1950s.

P. & C. Habig Wien "Spezial Qualität", possibly early 1920s but could be older. The hat was missing the liner (assuming it had one) and ribbon / bow so had it restored by Optimo Chicago (they no longer provide this service). I decided to go with a less traditional look with blue ribbon and bow design (not sure this was a good idea in retrospect). The Velour is a of a heavier weight but amazingly soft and pliable. The Velour quality definitely is "Spezial" with high gloss and dark as night. It's very difficult to photograph because it absorbs so much light. Great Form with a Curled Brim so worn as shown here. This hat was an export to Riga and that was also the sellers location. I found this hat back in February 2012.

The blue ribbon was a bold choice, but I think it works well. The ribbon accentuates the depth of color of the felt. It’s not at all garish.

Modern Royal Stetson Whippet-Japan, Open Crown with a new crisp diamond bash, Guatemalan head band, and a Malaysian Batik cloth face mask on the Masked Corona Crawl.
A few more people today on the beach, but no crowds. On the way to the beach some kids on bikes rode by on the coastal path and yelled out “peace on earth”. I yelled back “right on”.
