What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Finally felt good enough to celebrate my Birthday Dinner this evening, ended up with a stomach bug last Wednesday. My new go-to restaurant in Albany is Gambretti's, fine Italian dining. So I thought it appropriate to wear a fine Italian Borsalino hat. This classic 1960s style is in the color "mirtillo" (blueberry). Now I'm fat and happy.

Easier is nice but if the lift is down you use the stairs until fixed. Here's some eye candy from the Simeone Car Museum in Philadelphia. MGK3 Magnette for GHT.

Well good for you, the hat looks great, and so do you, good to see you recovering. What was your menu choice?

Posting this was a chore, but I got it! LOL
Good that you toughed it out so we could see that fine hat.

Nice Portis, Michael. I like the ribbon and brim binding. Good looking jacket too. Harris Tweed?
Thanks Reggie. Yes, Harris Tweed from something called the Centaur Gold Collection made in GB.

Out for a dog soiree this morning. It has warmed up to 12'f (-11'C) with a stiff wind. A wool mackinaw and a Filson Mackinaw cap were just the trick to keep me warm.

Home I went out to the local coffee shop for some yesterday roasted Ecuadorian coffee. The cap drew a couple comments. "Hunting cap", "cool wool cap" and a "cap like my grandfathers." All comments offered were from a group of kids at a table.

I like my hunting, cool old guy cap.

Well I am officially indoctrinated into the Dutch Connection, and what a way to go in - this absolutely fabulous Borsalino Ecosan, Qualita Extra Extra Superiore in the color Averla, from between 1945 - 1955.

I had to wait for some Sun so I could take photos outside worthy of this fine hat. Also broke out the Canon L Series glass, no phone pics for this one (other than the selfies).

Thanks Stefan, an absolute pleasure to deal with you.

What beautiful colors Alan

I don’t normally comment on you caps and hats as my vocabulary ran out of superlatives long ago, but the colors and texture of this cap our wonderful. Absolutely incredible!

Thanks very much guys... appreciate your taking the time to share comments.

The auction for this cap drew no bids - our esteemed and rarely seen member Lefty posted it at close and asked why no one had grabbed it. I hadn't seen it and sent a message to the seller offering to pay the BIN price, which was accepted. It was very inexpensive and remains one of my favorite antique caps. I think it's at least 100 years old, perhaps a little more.

Tim, Ecosan is a lovely, lovely raw edge model Borsalino.
Borsalino felt and craftsmanship at their finest, imho.
One of my most celebrated hat day victories was the day i received twin Ecosans from the same seller in the original box for the price of one. One in Averla and one in Pervinca, blue.
I still smile thinking of that day and both remain in the tops of my collection.
I celebrate with you Sir.
The pic is the first day i wore it on Willow’s first day 2 1/2 years ago.
