I didn't know there was any such thing as a hat safe.
I invented them. [emoji2]

When I bought my first Optimos, I was nervous they might get stolen the first time we left on vacation (they cost 1000 each), so I bought my first safe (first pic). All my Optimos fit comfortably, but I had to stack them. When I came back, they were a little wrinkled and I bought more Optimos, so I special ordered a bigger safe with shelves and put it in my bedroom.

Then I acquired my Moonhaul, so I had a wooden closet built, that can store 33 hats. Wood is expensive in Mexico, and easy to break into, so when I ran out of room there I ordered a bigger safe for only about 15 % more money than what a wooden closet of the same size would have cost, and had it put it in my home office.

When that got too crowded, I had a bigger one built, and now another. This last one will have to be assembled inside the room, and should be ready in about a month.

After that I will have to start putting safes in the garage, so I do believe I will stop. I think. [emoji2]

Ooohh and ahhhh! I don't like to dress up, but that's a nice picture.

Thanks, Doc! Between breaking in a leather jacket and a newborn I haven't had much opportunity to dress up over the past few months. Hoping to up my game a bit more here in the near future. Need some proper attire to go with the homburgs.

Very nice, Jonathan. Great shape and nice organic crease.

Thanks! I've only worked with this one dry so far, so there's a bit of a kink in the brim and the bash could use a little bit of work too. Now that a couple new brushes arrived this past week I'll need to give this one some steam, a brush, and TLC.

I love your Champ B-17. I remember someone posting it quite awhile back before I ever decided to join this forum(I don’t do social media) but couldn’t remember who it was. My father completed his tour of 35 missions as tail gunner in a B-17. If you ever decide to part with it please let me know I’m quite found of items B-17 related.

Thank you for the kind words, and my respect and appreciation for your father's service. I'll probably be holding onto this one for a while since I've only been collecting for about six months, but if/when I do decide to part with it you'll be the first to know. Im pretty sure there are a few other examples of the B-17 in the thread dedicated to Champ hats. @Miamibruno has one if I remember correctly.

Max, sheeze, i told you ages ago to just look for an old time bank and buy it for your hats. By now you could be having tours charging admission and Mexican hors d’oeuvres for all the tourists!

A man of many faces...err hats too!
That’s a good look...for suit and tie and stuff!
B

Thanks, B! At university some of my friends called me the man of a thousand faces. And during dinner last night the wife said that while she's used to it by now I could have been an undercover agent/spy. The facial hair had reached the inflection point where I either have to regularly trim the beard to keep it looking nice or I shave it all off. Considering yesterday was a preview of summer with temps in the upper 80s I elected to go clean cut.

I wonder if Henry Epitinger (of the Scientific hat book) once made hats there. His life story is interesting. From Austria to the States, a hatter in the East, then going West to make hats before getting the gold bug and taking up prospecting. He chased a gold boom to South America, then went back to hatting, running the biggest hat manufacture plant in Brazil, I'm almost certain, for a while.
