Thanks BB. The brim is so thin & soft it went a bit wonky just being in the box over the winter. The crown is holding shape pretty well. I'm reluctant to hit it with any steam to set it, fearing it might water spot.

The day is changing every hour. Now it is quite normal for May

"Superiore" sold in the Milan boutique of Borsalino, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Size is 60 cm or 7 1/2

No paper label, no other indications except the golden stamp on the white lining

The felt is of medium weight and the color is a brown-yellow mixing

As always the question is: who made it? Many traces goes to Monza hat district but I'm not sure 100%

Jack, I steamed and brushed it a bit during its short stay here. I don't think it will set.

Thanks, Michael. I like those Champ hats like the one you're wearing, but I find there's quite a bit of difference between one or the other, both in style and finish.

Thanks Stefan. They did seem to cover a lot of style bases. Their felts seem a bit soft in general. But I don't have that many examples.

His biography is in the foreward to his book, which was written I belive it's safe to presume by someone from the hatter supply company behind publishing it. It may be that lying was just as prevalent in the industry back then.

The Aristocrat for Monday. Kind of a milk chocolate felt with a root beer or copper ribbon.

A cheap o that i cleaned and Mike Miller added a new sweat.

Cool morning chores have me wearing a vintage Stetson Royal DeLuxe Open Road. The gray felt on this hat is excellent. The rain stopped a few hours ago and the combo of morning sun and the resultant humidly have my pics accurately capturing the hues of the felt. The blue tints to the gray felt show up in these pics.

I did find the text in question. It happens that the Ramenzoni factory was founded after the time when he was around here.
