Thanks for sharing a pic of the Balmoral. It really does look great on you. I have wondered what it would look like on someone. I have been wanting one for the Florida sun and sea. Unfortunately, I have a crooked head and am forced to reshape all off-the-shelf hats, bummer. They all point the crown to the northeast and I can't abide that. As you said the Balmoral is stiff straw. I would risk possibly breaking the straw if I reshape it. Open crowns work best for me, sadly. So, I will have to live vicariously through you. Good on ya mate. (p.s., I lived on Oahu 6 years, have fun).

New Akubra Balmoral is stiff as a board right out of the box.

Harris Tweed is great. Should last you a lifetime (and several years beyond). Thanks for the likes on the Panizza. Don't know if they made bikes too, but it wouldn't surprise me!
Sadly at this point in time it probably doesn't take much quality in a cloth get a lifetime guarantee for me. But I do love my Harris Tweed.

Two hat day (and I wasn't even out much).

Both nice, Stefan, but I love that Cav.

I’m not much of an athletic supporter generally, but it’s nearly impossible to ignore the hoopla around here on Super Bowl Sunday. So, my Borsa, my ring, my people, and I’m ready!!
Wow Charlie, I'll bet that Super Bowl ring is valuable...and you can change the sticker on top every yr! I have no skin in today's game but I was digging around in my basement bar looking for some beer glasses & found this one from when the Rams won it all back in St. Louis. If they win today I guess I'll need a new sticker too.

Home this afternoon catching up on outside chores and grilling. The 25'f feels very warm after a week of cool temps.

Early afternoon I was out and about in a great vintage Stetson in caramel hued felt and a sage green ribbon treatment. The "warm weather" is a nice change.

I have started charcoal on the grill for a grilled pork shoulder and have been sport'n a vintage Stetson Playboy. This aft/evening is definitely a brown hued moment.

Best, Eric -

Beauties, both. That caramel/sage Stetson is super. I couldn’t bring myself to grill yesterday, but managed a nice walk with the husky. It was nice until I realized the soles of my boots had separated and my socks were soaked.

I’m impressed that it’s already filled this morning. You are prepared, Jack!

Nearly a 70'f change from mid-week to this morning. Muck boots are my outside "slides" for today. Snow is coming your way today Jeff. Be safe and pull your hat down snuggly.

This morning fog and mist. The weather? Confusing weather but my Gannon fedoras got the calling this morning for chores. The dog walk was done while wearing a natural beaver felt with gills.

Grocieries and butcher stores visited in a Gannon granite hued beaver felt. Mist and light rain with fog putting visibility down to 1/4 mile. The Gannon hats work superbly and are up for my toughest chores.

"In between" grilling this late morning. I am hungry for some lunch before guests arrive to share the 1/2 slow grilling pig. They arrive at 5:00pm. I have chicken breasts wrapped with bacon, sweet potatoes and beets grilling for my wife and I. A different Gannon beaver felted hat I chose for my lunch preparation chores. A moss green felt with a gill ribbon treatment is perfect for my task. A sour beer, Omni Grilling Double Rasberry IPA (1.5lb. of raspberry per gallon of IPA beer) is my beverage for the chore.

Took advantage of some nice bright sunlight last evening and this early morning. Alas, back to dark grey blankets again.

Anyway, here are some pics of my Falcon Park Laird and Resistol Western.

I opened and curled the FP brim again. I like it best this way I think, as opposed to flattened. To be honest, the brim was never quite even, and never pencil rolled the way I wanted it.

I go back and forth between appreciating the imperfections as character, or wanting to send it to someone who has a little broader curling repertoire.

I hope you enjoy these.

All I know, Charlie, is pitchers & catchers report a week from Tuesday.

Like Eric, my hand reached out and picked a Gannon today. This is the first I got from Mr. Gannon. Silvermist.

The hemp is definitely more substantial on the Balmoral than on my OR, or Biltmore Lucca. In an effort to soften it up a bit I pushed out the crown to open crown. My impression is that with steam it would re-shape nicely, and that it will indeed soften with wear. And yes, my hat will inevitably be exposed to an occasional tropical shower which may soften it up.
