What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Spring has sprung around here in fits and starts. But it's been gorgeous the last few days. Perhaps that little monkey finally grabbed the brass ring and got summer started.

Barclay rebuild today. I'd forgotten where I put this, but found it in plain sight yesterday.

One Too Many
Thank you Brent. I appreciate that. Sorry it happened to your Mom, too. I'm sure she would have been proud of the way you turned out. My wife's Mom is going through the same right now and we don't believe she'll last the year, maybe sooner. Like my Mom did, hers is suffering from "Sundowners". My Mom decided she was going to sit down one and decided she wasn't going to get up.
Sorry to hear. Great pics and history.

Nice! Hey, Brent, I have a question:
I think I remember you saying you had "plastic" milans. How real do those feel/look? Is there a way of telling the difference in a picture? Can the "plastic" ones be molded or stretched?

Run away from these hats, Max. Run far and fast. I felt like I was wearing a salad bowl on my head.

Hahaha. I know, because Brent said they were too hot, but I wonder if you can tell the difference just from a picture, or even if you touch them before wearing them.

Well, for one thing, they're shiny because of the lacquer, so you can likely see it. You can definitely tell when you see one and handle it in person. Stetson calls them "Florentine Milans." I've owned two, a Stratoliner and an "Andover." I wore the Strat to the Dayton Air Show one hot June day and after that day, I took it off, listed it on eBay, and never looked back. The Andover was a nice looking hat, but I unloaded it for the same reason.

Of course, for some folks, the salad bowl look (or in this case, soup tureen) is flattering.
