Can a beret ever be too large or too bold? Donna and I might have to agree to disagree on that one...

Well it certainly makes a statement, and you are in very good company. Rembrandt often wore a beret, unfortunately I couldn't find a picture of Rembrandt wearing a beret, but here's two other famous artist in berets, as well as a revolutionary everybody knows:

Thank you, Bob. My Mom for sure was a character and she loved to laugh. She was a very social person and had many friends. I never knew my Grandmother, but there's no doubt that she too was an amazing woman. It's not everybody who can boast that their mother or grandmother was a title holder of a beauty competition. Now I know where I get my good looks from!

You sound positive Terry, bereavement carries such a heavy heart, especially when it's the one who carried you in the womb, nurtured you, was your greatest fan, always there in life's failures. My wife and I have renamed the anniversary of our departed love ones. It's now known as their spiritual birthday.

On Sunday there was a furious storm all over the north, the snow has reached a low altitude

The wind has swept away everything and the water has fallen copiously. No chance of wearing hats

Yesterday instead the weather has become more acceptable so here is one of my favorite blacks

Felt is superlative, flexible and of great quality as are the finishes

I want to thank everyone for the appreciation and kind words of last week.
We hope the spring continues without weather bumps

Mid-day I came home and worked to kill patch of Urtica dioica, common nettle, or commonly called stinging nettles.

You can eat nettles like wilted greens. When wilted they will get soft.

If there's one thing I could suggest, that would be to take plenty of pictures and videos. One day a loved one is here, and the next they're gone. I'm glad I thought to do that.

A new Whippet straw from the HatCo outlet. Not vintage, but it will be a great little general purpose summer hat. And it has a nice brown ribbon instead of the usual Stetson black!

[Just A Hat Rack]

Wearing my 7X Quality Western Thin ribbon conversion this a.m.

Finally laid my Mom's ashes to rest last week. Dementia finally got the best of her, but even through all of that people were surprised that she retained her sharp wit and her sense of humor. This was her at around 19 or 20 years old...

This was my Mom's Mother, (my actual Grandmother), who she never knew. My Mom's mother was "Miss Columbus", (Ohio), sometime before 1936. This newspaper clipping is one of two pictures that we have of her. She died in the hospital shortly after giving birth to my Mom...

and this is me from the late '70s, (probably around 24 at the time), and I'm hatless!

Sorry for your loss T. You have a lifetime of memories that keeps her with you.
