I need to steam the front brim or something as it is a little flat. It was on a shelf for a looong time according to the shop as everyone wanted real cowboy hats.

Donning my latest conversion this chilly A.M. Bradford 7X thin ribbon that I finished a few days ago. A couple of different angles...

Hand sewing the brim binding was definitely a tedious task that really messed with my eyes. I had to wear three pairs of reading glasses at the same time under a bright light so I could see what I was doing.

I always admired the thin ribbons that Robert Ryan and Hank Williams wore.

Some singin' along music with the Hankster!

I love "Bad Day At Black Rock", such a great flick.

Both awesome, Stefan. You've got so many great hats that I think you need to turn it up to 4 hat days.

Newly restored Resistol kitten finish with a 2 1/4”brim with felted edge.
I love this color. I call it dirt. It’s neither brown nor gray, and certainly not pecan. I also really admire very tidy wide ribbon and bow.

Unless the pics are doing an injustice, given the lighter color I would consider this to be a clay rather than dirt. But that's just my opinion. Either way, killer lid!

Only Biltmore with gills that I've seen. Or these days I should say that I remember seeing. Can't tell you much about the coat. No labels in it, very hard twisted yarn for a stiff and heavy cloth. I think the back construction looks similar to a draft I've seen of 1930s and '40s RAF officers dress coats. If I had to guess I would say it dates from that period. But I would be happy to entertain other ideas.

Thanks,
Michael

The cut and lines look like my father's coat. I remember the belt on the back, but I am not sure about the pleats I think it was most likely purchased in the 50's. I do remember it had a Gimbles label and maybe a ticket pocket. Great find, Micheal you are the Man!!!
