What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

1930s C&K, Knapp-Felt derby.

I think it is nifty that there are two sets of owner initials. Shared hat (that'd be weird... "rock, scissors, paper you for the Knapp-Felt, today") or sequential owners (seems more likely based on different font and wear on the lettering)?

Merry Fridee!

Donning my latest conversion this chilly A.M. Bradford 7X thin ribbon that I finished a few days ago. A couple of different angles...

Hand sewing the brim binding was definitely a tedious task that really messed with my eyes. I had to wear three pairs of reading glasses at the same time under a bright light so I could see what I was doing.

I always admired the thin ribbons that Robert Ryan and Hank Williams wore.

After JM entered Witness Protection, his initials were FF.

No time to post yesterday, but it was this one. Borsalino Gulaela.

Classic brim curl on that Borsalino Stefan, love the Gulaela color too.

Dobbs Twenty I picked up in a Wyoming cowboy outfitters this summer.

I need to steam the front brim or something as it is a little flat. It was on a shelf for a looong time according to the shop as everyone wanted real cowboy hats.
Happy Friday!!
The details on this Twenty are similar to the Gay Prince model by Dobbs, bold stitching and great lines. Interesting look without the model name in the sweat. Nice one Christophe.

I never was much of a black hat guy but I'm kinda warming up to them, some. My new Borsa conversion will be my second black hat and I think it will make nice one. I'm anxious, myself, to see how it turns out. Here's a black Resistol thin ribbon conversion I did last Fall...

Sometimes, you just need to wear a black hat. Now you will have a choice.

Such a nice finish on this Mallory Ten. A very pettable hat. And I'm kinda taken by the brim treatment too.

And of course, gills.

It sure makes for a nice story with the dual ownership of a hat. I picture a "used car" hat shop, low miles, one owner!

Gorgeous colors on that Whippet Richard. I wonder what the "SCC Marketing" on the mfg tag is all about?

Cool and getting cooler this morning. Wetter too. A chance for a black hat.

Oh now you are just showing off! An overcoat months ahead of everyone else, really?:D;) My Biltmore brown derby is from this Hat's Meow shop. Cool name. Sure like the ribbon treatment on this one.

Great look Michael. We still are not cool enough to justify a sweater, soon though...
Thanks Red. During the morning it was actually cool enough to add the Irish tweed jacket to the mix. By afternoon the sweater was more than ample. Super looking XV today.

Great sweater vest and that topcoat rocks Michael.
Thanks Perry. You have a great hat and shirt combo going on today.
The coat has a lot of wear, but I couldn't pass it up because of this back

I've been wanting to find something with this multiply pleated back as a study piece for a long time.

Thanks,
MIchael

Thanks Red. I don't recall the brown derby, you'll have to pull it out again soon. Did you get it on Goodwill? They had a ton of hats from that shop a year or so ago. Mostly Biltmore and Dobbs if I recall.
It's 50 with drizzle and a fairly gusty wind here now, and the temp is going down, not up, today. Perfect timing that since I just found the overcoat yesterday. Next week we have some more straw weather on tap. Drat.

Thanks,
Michael

I grabbed it off of eBay during the summer. Kind of a tapered crown, but it is at least brown, they all it "Cognac".
