My apologies for the question that only enlightens one, Timmy. Until you mentioned it I'd never heard of a hat having a wind trolley before and when I look closely I see the cord and button. That looks like it would be awkward to use w/ the tether hanging over the edge of the brim and ran through a button hole on your shirt. Is that the way it works and do you ever use it?

Thanks for pointing it out.
Strictly ornamental in my case. Back in the day it was intended to be used exactly as you described.

Nowadays, being semi-retired, I only work part time. This morning I had the call. Help!
My Susquehanna bespoke hat had many a phone camera pointed at it. The trousers that Tina made for me had a few comments, but nobody had ever come across two tone spectator shoes. Some are easily pleased.

After seeing the post of the Barbisio Cow Boy this weekend, It reminded me of one of my Stetsons.... An Imperial Ultimate felt. Dark Grey felt and Khaki ribbon/ binding

After three dreary, chilly, soggy days, were welcoming a bit of sun and 70 degrees today. Time to take off the jackets and pull out a tropical!

I had three kids competing in the final of an English speech contest on Sunday. I got Monday off in lieu. I chose my Borsalino Debrosan in Bismuto for the occasion (and I did change into a pair of dark blue leather shoes!). The contest was held in a town in Southern Wakayama that has great seafood, so I took Etsuko. We went for lunch before the event. The view from the restaurant was fantastic…

…and Etsuko’s.

Less than $US10 each.

Etsuko wore a Maxim.

After lunch, I dropped Etsuko off at the hotel and went to the speech contest. After the contest, I got changed, switched hats to my Fed IV (since with the type of restaurant we were going to, there was a definite chance that odours could stick to the hat) and headed out for dinner.

Back home, I fired up the shichirin grill to grill some more seafood we bought down south. The hat was my barbecue hat - the Akubra Cattleman.

So much to see in this series of posts, Gary!! To begin with: that Borsalino, that coat, and that tie: MAGNIFICO!!!! ::chef's kiss:: Next, for me, is that Hornskov Broker with that shirt and vest, AND the multiple-appearances leather jacket. Well played, sir!!! And, of course, Etsuko always looks grand in whatever she's wearing!

A few days ago I read here on FL that it was the day dedicated to black felt hats.
So I am late in celebrating hats that are, in my personal opinion, synonymous with elegance and also a bit of mystery
Mayser 3.jpg

Let's start with a classic German hat produced by Mayser. A very graceful and streamlined profile
Mayser 1.jpg
The ribbon bow is without a design and this makes the silhouette even sharper.
Mayser 5.jpg
The felt is of medium consistency and dyed in a light black compared to others more dark.
The next few days will be dedicated to the various interpretations of the black hats

In the meantime, I thank you for the likes that you kindly give me, mine are for all of you even when they are not obvious.

Some great photos of you both in wonderful hats, Gary.

I've finally got me a Hornskov, don't get me coveting more :)

As for the food photos, absolutely mouth watering.
