This morning I'm sporting a Royal Stetson that was originally sold at Paul's Men's Shop in Jesup, Georgia. Similar to the Knox Tom 'n' Jerry fedora I posted last week this one has stitched rows on the brim too. The onion skin liner tip was cracked and torn so I removed what remained and really like the dark maroon color that was hiding underneath. This also let me see that there are stars in the logo which means earlier than 1951 if I remember correctly.

I love everything about this hat. The details are what set it apart. I am particularly focused on ribbon styles right now, as I am about to put a new one on my Stetson Stampede conversion. It looks like the ribbon here is not the typical grosgrain type. It looks great!!! And now I find myself rethinking everything. The gals at my local fabric store are likely going to start referring to me as that "weird ribbon guy".:p

One of the more unusual hats from my collection, Hawes Von Gal c.1910. Stiff hats and straws show up from time to time but I don't remember seeing another soft hat from this company that faded away after WWI. Condition is very fine.

The condition is remarkable. The finer things do indeed last the test of time. Very Nice! :)

Nice one Tim! Think I remember seeing that one. Too small for me or I’d have liked to bid since that town is only 35 minutes from my house.

I really like the "Sky Gray" color. I've been searching the internet to see if I could find other examples. No luck. Do you know if that was a standard color at one time for Stetson? If so, what era?

Thanks, it's a favorite of mine. Someone here far more knowledgeable about vintage Stetsons told me what the color is. It is not a common color but I have seen it on other hats and a vintage advertisement. I wouldn't know if the color was standard in their lineup. The name of the color is not widely known and I think it would be a surprise to find it used in a sale listing. The hat is from the mid-late 50's.

29 degrees here @ Rock Bottom this morning. Good sense would have me wearing a heavier hat today but I want to show y'all one of the new additions to my collection. It is a lightweight fedora from Gimbel, established in 1865. The hat features a reed-less sweatband and vent holes in the crown. This hat is so lightweight that it is easy to forget you have a hat on your head.
Hope y'all have a good 'un !
