What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

It took me about a year of consistent searching, but I was finally able to lay my hands on a Marathon fedora, in incredible condition. Granted, there is some discoloration on the crown, above the hatband, (not as bad as it appears in the photos) but I’m willing to trade that for a hat that fits me perfectly, and has no other physical defects. Early to mid 50s vintage I believe, and I am VERY pleased. Definitely my wear for the day as I run errands.

I like 'em both, but my vote goes to the OR.

Most of the time my retired arse leaves the house, I can bet on staying clean so I can wear anything I want. There are days with activities though though that makes me opt for something like the old Adam or Moose River just to be safe

Today I played with the idea of taking the JBS 25 to SE Asia instead of the FED IV. After all, the 25 is a beater…. just a very high quality one. And the difference in the two hats is night and day: the Akubra feels like a toy next to the 25.

But the biggest concern in SE Asia is actually mildew - it can be difficult to avoid in Thailand particularly and if it got in my 25 I would be upset.

Better to stick to one that can be replaced.

Question for you. We are going to Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore on a cruise in Jan 2026. I would take a Panama for sun protection, but I'm concerned about the rain. Thoughts or suggestions?

You are quite knowledgeable Stefan. The lady's heart is still strong and good, but the electrical pulse is out of sync, causing her chronic fatigue. Her surgery has repaired all that.

Last week I was on Ebay and saw this nice old Homberg for sale for cheap (35.00). The seller said it was a Stetson but only one pic of the hat from a side view so I asked for a view of the inside. I saw a nice old hat in a brand I had never heard of before so I offered 25.00 and bought myself a hat ! Still haven't found much information on this one so if any of y'all know what I got here please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Early this a.m. I celebrated my 70th with a trip to the ER. For this special birthday occasion I wore my rare, hard to find, Ram Truck ball cap. The conclusion was that I had some arthritis, narrowing of some vertebrae, and some deterioration of some discs. Painful stuff.

Sorry to hear that, Terry. Certainly not the way you want to spend any birthday. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you buddy. I was able to get in to see our family doctor today. I got a steroid injection and some pain meds. Hopefully I'll soon be doing much better.
