Great looking hat Dave. Playboys always present such a great profile.A shout out to @alanfgag because I’m also wearing a gray Playboy today—younger than (and not as cool as) his but one of my go to lids. Had to run over to Rock Center at the end of the day and thought this would make a fedora-appropriate backdrop.

Thank you! I'm feeling brim up on this icon tonight. One of my faves—gorgeous hat!
good looking hat yo! whats brim width on that bad boy? and is the felt true to color in those pix?It always seems to be snowing/raining on NHD. So, not even out of the box an hour; Gannon “Highwayman” in steel, 100x beaver. It has a brown liner and the “antique” sweat. I’ve admired the way @Hurricane Jack changed the ribbon width on his so with his approval I followed suit. The last time I spoke to Mr Gannon he asked if 1” would be ok and I said you do whatever you think looks best. This hat is beautiful, I’m very happy.

I like when sweats have the dept. store or mens' store with the city displayed, and not just the hat make/model. If a fellow was really fortunate, the original owner would have the same initials as his stamped in too. I wonder if any loungers have had that coincidence ?Stetson Playboy - a lightweight hat from before the U.S. entered WWII.
I’ve definitely seen that here on the Lounge before…maybe Joe @Blare??I like when sweats have the dept. store or mens' store with the city displayed, and not just the hat make/model. The colour, the shape, it's so like the hat Esther made for me. The only difference being she made me a Strat-look-a-like and that has a narrow hat ribbon. What a superb gem of a hat.Stetson Flagship. Because life is too short to save a hat like this for… someday.

Trust me, you're not alone!Nice hat. Does anyone find it strange that Google maps shows a bald guy obviously out shopping for a hat, wondering why Willoughby is no longer at 7 Rue de Castiglione? Does anyone wonder why someone like me doesn't have better things to do than search out old hatmakers on Google maps?

Looks magnificent, Alan. Love the shallow flange on the brim.It always seems to be snowing/raining on NHD. So, not even out of the box an hour; Gannon “Highwayman” in steel, 100x beaver. Let's face it, Gary: you'll be in the hall of coolness with that one.Graduation day for the 6th graders today, so as always, I went for my Brummel’s Homburg.
Several of the kids asked for photos with me afterwards. I asked them “with or without the hat?” One said “either or”, but the rest said “with”. View attachment 409030 View attachment 409031
Works a treat, Steve.Wolfbrae day again today. Brim down this time round.

Added some wide pinches for a more casual look. Very malleable felt.
A hat with attitude, Joe. Nice!View attachment 408644
Stetson No. 1 Quality
Greenish Grey to Tan/Brown Grey Felt
6 inch open crown
3 1/2 raw edge brim
1 inch mid ribbon with frayed edge bow
Picked up what I am guessing to be late 60s to 70s Stetson No. 1 Quality western. My first No.1 and I knew it was going to need some shaping… but for the price I had to jump on it. It arrived in a box measuring about 9x13x7 so you can imagine this hat with a 6 inch crown and 3 1/2 inch brim was quite crumpled when I removed it from the box. I gave it a good brushing and decided it was definitely going to need some steam. I got to steaming it last night and the crown shaped up real well but the brim was really still quite wonky. Today I decided to get out the steam iron and flatten the brim… It came out fairly crisp. I’d really like to give this a kettle curl.. but there is not enough stiffener in the brim to hold the shape I don’t think… so that may be a future project. This hat does have a real presence to it.

I have a Borsalino Eglesti homburg that has my initials stamped in it. Usually the hats have the little metal shields in the sweatband for the initials. Those are easy to swap out.I like when sweats have the dept. store or mens' store with the city displayed, and not just the hat make/model.
