Happy that your shoulder/arm has mended. Always good to see your posts. Thanks Dave. The cap has a full label in it of materials and price, but it has no maker's name on it. It sole for 58 of whatever currency it sold in. Ha ha.
Thanks Alan. I kind of got out of the photo taking habit when my selfie arm was out of commission. That and the fact that it was too hot to wear anything but shorts and a ventilated cap.
Thanks Stefan. I could see how with that fine hat collection of yours you wouldn't know what a lowly wool cap is. Ha ha.
All great American hats. Loving the Adam particularly.
Yes, it is. Being retired daylight isn't in short supply for me. Too bad they don't glow in the dark like Jack-o-Lanterns. I found a couple of smaller ones yesterday, too. And a small chicken of the woods.
Thanks all,
Michael
Brent your car is very cool. Hats and cars what more could a person ask for!

Hi Michael:Unknown maker for the morning. Wind will be blowing it off of my head in a few minutes as it's supposed to gust above 40 mph today.

I like blue and I like the colors in this fun hat. Feel a little silly posting a hat like this with all these manly hats and dapper dudes.

I’m standing in front of a 1952 Henry J. Corsair. This is the last car my father-in-law restored before he died several years ago. Until I married into the family I had never heard of the Kaiser-Frazer Automobile Company.

He had a dozzen or so vintage cars, but they were all Kaiser-Frazers and didn’t sell for as much as I had hoped for his wife. They were the “Champ” brand of cars looking to undercut the big players. My father-in-law worked at his father’s Kaiser-Frazer car dealership after The War. These cars were a big part of his life but none of his children wanted or had room for them...kind of like my hats when I’m gone.
So my first Fedora was a Stylemaster in carbon grey. Never wore it much because I decided I wanted a bigger brim and didn't care for the color. Recently tried to "jazz it up" (yeah, I'm a musician) with a paisley ribbon that's actually a necktie! (Purists feel free to groan). This is the result:

Nice looking Lee, Joe.
This might actually have been done by Habig, Gary. I've seen Mayser and Wegener hats with the same feature. Can't say I can quite follow the reasoning behind it, but there must have been one.Thank you, Stefan.
Despite my description, the Habig is clearly a much nicer hat than the pork pie. What brings it down in my estimation is the extra sweat/sizing tape stuck on the sweatband by the previous owner. I’ve left it on there as i) when I started to take it off, it was clear it was going to make a mess of the leather, and ii) it’s actually a better size for me with it in.
Still, I did get this one pretty cheaply.

But you did get it right in the end!The new hat today, 7x with a 5" brim, six inch crown, as originally ordered. It showed up pretty mis-shaped in the too small of box. Took me a couple of hours with all the tools to get it sorted. Sometimes even simple is difficult to get right.

Thanks, Michael. I was talking about the mushrooms actually when I wrote that. But it could apply to cap as wellThanks Dave. The cap has a full label in it of materials and price, but it has no maker's name on it. It sole for 58 of whatever currency it sold in. Ha ha.
