Now that’s a descriptor. Pushes ‘molds like clay’ to the back of the line. Great colors on that one, Eric.

Dang slide rule soldiers. (Thanks)
My HS math teacher told me "Pi R squared."
I told him, "No, pie R round. Cornbread R square."
Appropriate analogy. It's an analogy, right?
Y'know, sometimes I wonder why I post.
i love it! I’ll arm wrestle you for it. (Not really. You’d win.) Great hat, though. It got my envy juices flowing.Day 23 of 31 Hat Parade: Sunny morning in Oregon, unusual for Memorial Day, usually gray and rainy. Patty and I took a nature walk at the Talking Waters park in Albany. One of the finest weaves I have come across, Mike Miller turned this one into something special. Classified as a Semi-Colado (open weave on crown) Cuenca Straw in Grade 8. Grading of straws from Ecuador is varied, this one is just superb though. Tight weave on the brim and a unique pattern on the crown. Air conditioning...

View attachment 237093 View attachment 237094 I love a Cavanagh fedora that Anthony Amodeo sold in his memorable hat sell-off a couple of years ago. I wasn't able to acquire it because he had already sold it to @scottyrocks, from The Fedora Lounge, and have since bitterly regretted my tardiness.
I asked Scott directly if he would sell it to me, and he replied he wouldn't "even if hell freezes over", so I have tried to find the same Cavanagh ever since.
Today I wore my Knox Twenty for the first time, and just realized why I like it so much: both hats are nearly identical in color (although I can't get my camera to show it accurately) and proportions, and the felt seems to have the same texture, softness, and malleability. They even have the same bash! No wonder Anthony liked it!
The last pic is of Anthony's Cav.
and the rest are mine.
So, my search is over!
Oh! And I just added to pics of the paper tags under the sweatband. @scottyrocks, if you are there, are there any tags under yours?

I can only speak for myself.. but I appreciate your input. You and others have immense knowledge on the subject. Whereas I can just take a wild guess... or sometimes regurgitate a bit of what I’ve gleaned for you all. Any idea what time frame that tag represents?I feel like Hermione whenever I do this (as Snape would say: "Tell me, are you incapable of restraining yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?").
Air conditioning and visibility.. excellentConvenient: you could see the planes through the brim!
Ouweee! Makes me imagine what might be if that white fuzzy coffin hat I have were blocked into shape... would need a heck of a lot of starch... and alas it doesn’t have quite that brim.. but what a great look. This bring German week 4 to a close, but it isn't over yet. Still more Germans to come (it's like playing football against them; it's never over. That real football you guys.)

Thank you steur! This is one I believe I did year before last. When I sized it up the brim went from its original 2 5/8 to 2 1/2 inches wide. I didn't like that 2 1/2 brim width so I stripped it back down and used the sweat I first put in it and a 6 ply ribbon I had on it and put both on another hat and set this one aside for over a year. After taking another look at it I had other ideas and I'm wearing the Dobbs again.Great job as usual, Terry. You made a tired hat look like new.

Great finish on that furry beauty. Love that liner! This bring German week 4 to a close, but it isn't over yet. Still more Germans to come (it's like playing football against them; it's never over. That real football you guys.)

Aghhh! One more reason to regret joining the Lounge so late in life. Oh, well. What are you gonna do.One of the nicest Cavanaghs I have ever owned. Came to me with the original box as well. It was about a size too large for me though. I passed it on to Moon and I see he put a nice diamond crease in it! Beautiful hat. It had a doctors name on the sweat as I recall........ would have been nice to see it go to you Doc. Thanks for posting the picture.

Just wondering: Since I’m not versed in the subject of hat provenance this certainly qualifies as a wild guess: Could the top number on the right side of the tag refer to the date the hat was made? Could the 73146 indicate July 31, 1946? Is the hat that old?I can only speak for myself.. but I appreciate your input. You and others have immense knowledge on the subject. Our friend Bowen has a similar Dobbs as I recall. My Knox 15 is similar. It looks a lot like the Dobbs Adrian has on eBay. I’d be bidding if it was my size.
So smooth looking Doug. Love the color of that ribbon.
That one has a good color combo. It’s a great color combination. I have a similar John Cavanagh:
