Go, Air Force!! I did 7 years and should’ve stayed in. Liked it, but it got in the way of passion.
I love Bluegrass shows!
However, it has no retirement value.
Nice jacket, BTW. Enjoy your retirement!Wyld. View attachment 205017
I have to put down more pre finished flooring, while wearing a Strat beater.

Naw, just kidding. The Stratoliner waits patiently in the truck till the end of my workday.

Nice Strat Randall.....[emoji106][emoji106] I have a good friend who plays Bluegrass and I used to jam with him every so often. I'm a blues man, but Bluegrass has a unique sound that I enjoy.

Ha....fooled ya. Casual.

I have an affinity for the Air Force myself even though I didn’t serve. My Father was a B24 Bombardier in WWII and retired with 30 years in. I thought very seriously about joining after High School, but decided on College instead. I still have a great love of military aircraft though and love to photograph Air Shows whenever I can

Thanks for your service !!

Hey J:
Thanks. 3” without the curl and 6” open crown. Looks like a twin to yours. The blocking looks the same to me, also.
I think we both enjoy similar tastes in this style as do several other members. It’s a hard one not to like no matter the color or brand but the black just does it for me. I know it does for you too. Your 3X is very unusual. I’d love to have one to compare. I’d bet the felt’s probably nicer than the Nutria, idk.
B

Man, both yours and Justin’s are knockouts ! And y’all both wear them very well. I need to add a black one to my search.....

Nice to see some new blood when I pop in. Welcome to the Fray Alan. You will learn a lot about this addiction here, and beware of the enablers! Your hat collection will grow out of control like mine.

Love the lines and crown of this Knox Michael. Spiffy coat as well.
Thanks Red. I think the hat turned out pretty well. The coat is a Zero King number from around 1969. Heavy wool twill with wool tartan lining. All made in the USA.

First day going to the YMCA to "workout". Baby steps... I was able to do 15 minutes and 2.8 miles on the exercise bike. Even that, I'm a little wobbly. Still, I did have to wear a hat to the gym, much to my wife's dismay. I "dressed down" with my Hat City Hat Co. beater.

That is a mighty spiffy looking hat to be called a beater, Red. Good to hear you are getting a little exercise time in.

Foggy night in the plains and dense mists here in the valleys. Cold until mid-morning, then the sun appeared slightly heating the air

Borsalino Antica Casa size 6 or 59 cm. here in Europe, 7 3/8 in the US

The color of the felt is "Folco" and the finish is a shiny fur, called in ancient times here in Italy by the felt manufacturers, "flaman" or finished with French iron, so it is written in the descriptions of the ancient workings of felt

Felt looks, in manufacturing, a lot like a few French hats which will catch some light in the coming days
View attachment 205014
It is a quite recent product of Borsalino, no type mentioned on the paper label.

I wish you a happy Thursday. I thank you for the likes and kind words.

That looks to be a really nice color, Daniele. Beautiful finish too. I wonder what a French Iron is?

Thanks,
Michael

Steve complimenti! Do you think the "Torry" has some woll in the mixture of the felt?
It seems to me it is a dark grey heather felt that I like so much:)
Daniele, Thank you! I think it's possible it might have some wool. I agree about the dark grey heather felt. Here is a photo that shows the felt and finish (scratched and somewhat roughly clipped) better.

View attachment 204865 View attachment 204866 View attachment 204867 Ok folks, first post for me but I’ve been popping in and out of here (AKA; stalking) for at least 15 years. I have the unfair advantage of knowing a whole bunch of you, while none of you know me. Awkward. Anyway, let’s fix that. Or as we tube guys like to say, let’s rectify that.
Today’s hat is my Royal Stetson Whippet, with a huge nod to Art Fawcett for the full restore after I nearly destroyed it. Long story. Actually a couple stories. Dropped my youngest daughter off at swim practice for 2 1/2 hours so I went for a walk on Glen Island. Not for long, too cold today. That’s right, brim up for Bob. Also, that’s just how I wear them.
Welcome, Rumad. Great lid!

Love the look of the colour and texture on that Borsalino, Daniele. Great overall shape, too.

Nice hat!
My unit was getting packed up to go to that shock and awe affair, but got canceled when it was over in a week. Disappointed back then, but kind of glad now.
Glad you came back to us, Hector!
Played contemporary Grass on stages for over twenty five years, (much of it having bluesy sounds) had a great time, but now all I do is listen. Arthritis getting worse.
It’s not so bad I couldn’t install a new Bluetooth car stereo in my truck yesterday. Now I can listen to the Flatt Lonesome band, New Found Road and many others on Pandora! Love it!!!!
Installing stereos in a vehicle is much easier since having DIY videos. How did we ever get along before without YouTube?
