Thanks, DD - and to everyone that liked the post. Other than the sunset (and if you like freight trains) it isn’t really the prettiest commute.

Today I’ve been enjoying one of my first hats, VS in Black Cherry.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Cheers! David
The commute is always pretty in a Mustang, David :D

A lovely winter morning today. Marathon gets the call in the form of my most recent acquisition.

Slack jawed admiration, another great ensemble. When is this marathon from?

This one of my favorite Dobbs out there Michael. The condition is just superb.
Thanks Red. The condition is very good, if you can ignore some moth bites. Which I find pretty easy to do with this hat.

Gorgeous satchel Michael. It is a great backdrop for that Marathon. It looks to have some age. Great coats rule.
Thanks again, Red. Stealing a page out of David's book with the satchel photos. Can't really say much about the satchel except that it is stamped Real Leather Handmade in Greece on the inside and came to me yesterday sans leather shoulder strap.

That is a great looking hat, Michael. Nice crease in it too.
Thanks steur. I'm pretty sure that the felt and ribbons on this hat are identical to that of one of my Stetson Open Roads. I'll have to try to get some side by side photos this afternoon.

Two hat day today (actually three, but forgot ot take a shot of the third one). First one was the borsalino selentino.

After that it was time to follow in the footsteps of Matt (Barnes) with a homburg. The Lee in navy blue for its first outing (maybe in decades). Ribbon still needs a little steam.

Great looking pair of hats steur and great greatcoat as well. Is that another ex-military model?

Thanks Windsocke. I'm unversed in the dating of Marathons. Perhaps someone more informed than I can chime in.

I haven't tried to turn down the sweat to see if there are any tags under it.

That was a fine looking Borsalino you were wearing yesterday.

Thanks all for the likes and comments,
Michael

Michael, thanks. I'm a bit unsure about the coat. It's not military length, so I think it's more inspired by military coats than an actual one.

Special day with two hats, one to go to my studio and one to return.
The special occasion was suggested by a conversation we made with Steve during his stay in Verona in October. The topic was: "Everyday hats" that have been saved from the daily use of users with little money in their pockets and one or two hats to wear up to consumption.
Steve found medium and low-priced hats in the Central European markets before World War II and some later, quite new and some used, so we can see not only high end hats, but also the usual that is really interesting.
Today, putting my collection in place, I noticed these two Barbisio, which are from the historical production of Sagliano Micca's house in the 60s. Interesting is that they come from a small shop in a town a few miles from Ferrara, so not a town and they are for not so rich people.
They are very similar, almost identical and destinated to workers or men of low social class. The price was half of a Borsalino.

The morning hat is a Barbisio "Qualità Super" called "Semiruvido" due to the presence of wool mixed with fur that gives the surface of the felt a wrinkled appearance
mhsu1i.jpg

The ribbon is the same color "Cufra" as the felt as well as the one that trim the brim

The midday hat is always a Barbisio without particular information on quality

The color of the felt is "Daino" and the ribbon color "Talpa", while the ribbon that trim the brim is the same color of the felt

This at the touch is slightly less wrinkled than the brown one. They are two hats of equal proportions and of the same price category

They arrived until these days new to be used only some days in a year
Thanks for the like and have a nice Saturday
