I'm not sure it ever came with a black ribbon if you ordered one of the brown hued felts (i.e., Tawny Fawn, Heritage Fawn, Dark Brown). The ribbon on my Dark Brown Fed IV is darker than the ribbon on my Tawny Fawn, but in the right light you can see it's brown and not black.
Yeah I figured. I might just buy a nice replacement that's black. You know where they are sold?

Spending a peaceful day in the kitchen, sun streaming in, looking at old photos. Here are a few I found taken with some of the Lounge members I've had the pleasure to meet.

with RLK - a prolific face and collection, taken in Evanston, IL

With Joshbru, another Chicagoan with impressive hat knowledge.

Absolutely fabulous, Cristina! I love the bow. Nice jacket too :)

Oh dear European girls you make my evening.
Here was a clear and sun shining day and in the nightfall there is smell of springtime, hope it will arrive soon
Complimenti per i cappelli!
Grazie, Daniele. I hope you had a great weekend!

It has been here before, on the head of the Great Matt, but now it is on the other side of the USA. Mallory Homburg, c1950s (hopefully early). I am quickly completing (if that is ever possible) my Homburg collection. With this lovely rich brown I now have every scenario covered. Now on to my next covet/quest, all things blue. Thanks Matt, you are a gem.

That homburg just glows, it's so happy sitting there on your head. Really suits you!

Wow... a beautiful page of photographs from Europe and from our west coast. The Mallory homburg and Stetson Flagship look great. Christina and Celia, you add such style to our thread. A pleasure to see you all.

I usually take a vacation from shaving and from taking hat photos over the weekend. But I am inspired by the renaissance of the homburg here. This hat was manufactured by Hat Corporation of America in the 1940s for Jack Henry in Kansas City. Jack Henry closed its doors in 2014 after more than 80 years in business. The Country Club Plaza opened in 1922 with a design inspired by Seville architecture. It is considered to be the first shopping plaza in the world designed for patrons arriving by automobile.

cheers!
Alan

Thank you Alan, it is a pleasure to be in your company too (and that of your hats ;) ). Another beautiful homburg, such a nice colour ribbon/brim binding, and I always enjoy reading the hat's story.

I think it looks great on you. I've seen a lot of wool lady's hats that I like a lot. As well as a few men's wools that I wouldn't complain about wearing in the least.

Michael
Yes, they are not all so bad, and ther's quite a lot of variety in ladies wool felts. I've got a few woollies that I'm really fond of. They are perhaps not the quality of nice furs, but they have their time and place.
Your Mallory heathed velour is really nice, I like the colours and the ribbon. And the three piece suit is excellent as well.

Good afternoon folks. Early this morning I had to split and carry some wood. My vtg. Stetson Regis royal De Luxe was a perfect companion.

Back to work mid-morning wearing a Gannon Wanderer (blue with charcoal trimmings). I got home and snapped a pic of the blue hat.

Quick change as this late afternoon I am starting to grill a lamb roast in the windy, brisk weather wearing a Gannon Wanderer (charcoal felt and ribbon).

You are invited for roasted lamb and the fixing this evening. Best, Eric -
Three-hat day, what a treat! I may have told you before, but I always like those photos of your hats sitting in trees ;)

Busy day.
If that's the outfit you wore to the funeral, you would make my kind of friend.

Headed to the theatre tonight. Big old Dobbs Twenty hommy adorns my head.
Forgive the taco bell bathroom picture.
Perhaps I'll have a more appropriate setting later...

I'm loving all these homburgs here this weekend! The background doesn't matter when you look that stylish. I hope you had a good night at the theatre, what did you go and see?

Busy day.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Great hats and cool lightning picture. I used to love storms, except that one time when my house got flooded, that wasn't so much fun. Still like watching them though :)

Great hat and suit, the tie and handkerchief add just the right bit of colour. Different moustache?

Off this morning under the 1930s green Dobbs.

Peace.

I love the liner of those game birds. That last picture's great :)
Just finished up another "Tallboy" conversion. This is a Resistol Stagecoach in Silverbelly. It's the very same dimensions as the brown one I did, tall crown and 2 3/4 brim. I went with a thin ribbon and a campaign style bow...I'll post more pics later in the Conversion Corral.

No 4' brims were cut down in this conversion process. :)
Your conversions are really impressive, that's some skill you have. Always enjoy seeing the pictures.

Giving it some head time because it can't seem to settle on what it wants to be.
Struggling with this one ... we'll see what happens

I think it looks great like that, but if you're not happy with it yet, the right crease will come to you. Some hats just need a bit of time in my experience...
