Good morning Gents! A nice start to the day and you guys are looking dapper!

Orangegrad, I'm really liking that Campdraft my friend. Campdraft is going on my list of hopefuls.

Casechopper, Awesome OR!

For me this beautiful but somewhat chilly morning in Central Ohio, I'm wearing a jacket and my Royal Stetson for the morning walk with my Lhasa Apso / Poodle. (Still don't understand why Stetson just labled this a "Royal Stetson" since it has an obvious OR styling).

(I definitely gotta expand my fedora collection to include something else other than mostly Silverbelly OR style hats!)

TJ - it may sound like sacrilege, but in many ways I prefer my two Camp Drafts to my early 50s 3X beaver silverbelly OR. The Taupe Fawn color seems to be fairly close to the Whiskey color many of the custom hat makers are using. I find that all my Akubras, with a bit of massaging, fit as well as my custom Black Sheep fedora, which I actually wear quite rarely. I prefer the Akubras.

Sounds pretty close to sacrilege to me...not having seen your 3X but mine is definitely heads & shoulders above the felt of even my 2 Heritage Campdrafts (only place, besides typed here in the Lounge, Camp Draft is 2 words is the misprinted sweatband of an Akubra Imperial Campdraft). I even pounced all of my Imperial Campdrafts after receiving them due to their coarseness.
50's 3X Stetson felt is "dead felt" where modern Akubras are still felting & hope to get to that state.
Nice stuff from a factory but I don't think you're giving the 3X its due respect...JMHO

I'm not saying that the Akubra is the "better" hat. I am saying that I prefer it. The 3X Beaver felt is certainly lighter weight than any of my Akubras, and I wouldn't argue that the details are "better." But my Akubras get more headtime. And I prefer them.

I drive a Mazda 3. I would never argue that my friend's Volvo is a "better" car. But if I owned both, I'd drive the Mazda more.

Nice ones all around, fellas.
Sam and T Jones-- those shots are great!

Here are my choices from yesterday. Earlier I wore my Baron bowler, and later wore my Carlson homburg (after a steaming open of the crown and a recrease.)

You said you prefered them "in many ways" to the 3X. Sounds like you deem some aspects about them better, 1 being fit...

I find the colors of the Akubras to be richer. Also, the Akubras fit me better. Frankly, I just don't wear the OR much anymore - since I got my CDs. I put the OR on a few minutes ago, and then took it off. I'm wearing a Camp Draft again. Is the OR a better fedora? For someone I'm sure it is. But I like my Camp Drafts more. It's a preference.

Thanks to ALL who have brought us along. This thread is a great outlet, diversion, and (I think) has tremendous therapeutic effects for all who look!

The ride north, with Miles. (I walk Miles every day.) FYI, and an important follow up; Canine motion sickness and anxiety are GREATLY reduced by his new "THUNDERSHIRT." Like magic! (See that big doggy grin?!) Note, though, the surrounding presence of the towels, just in case...

Other interesting (in my mind) sights...
Our camp's "Wall of Hats" (mostly small sizes, accumulated for the use of "visiting dignitaries," future grandkids, etc.)

Strange effect of the rain on a pile of gravel... Looks almost like a miniature landscape shot. And what kind of caterpillar is that?

Paul and Ted going for a ride. Ted is wearing his trophy Scottsdale CC hat. And I had to include a few more of those amazing, AMAZING and varied sunsets we get there every evening. Those are meant to be shared. Too beautiful!!

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to comment on yesterday's photo. Today's hats look great. Appreciation for TJones on the Royal Stetson... excellent example of a classic style. :eusa_clap

A gleaning from RLK's inventory thinning... a must make shopping stop in my opinion.

Of all the hats you (and we ALL) are fortunate enough to bring to our pages, THIS one, according to the rendition of my monitor and the light temps of today, is the PERFECT color for you, Alan (IMHO). :eusa_clap
