A "Light Lee"! I love the way they used the company name in their names, I have a Smart Lee and a Lee Jet. Cool hat Max.

Very nice Winston!

As a Historian, I can appreciate your goal to match historic hats from our past. I think you did a great job. Great way to make an entrance, welcome to the Lounge.

Damn Justin, this hat looks so nice for it's age. It is truly impressive.

Looking great in that Marathon Christophe!

Adam as in 1960s Adam? That pug is a real corker my friend!

Planning to make a few sales calls on your way? You look sharp as usual.

Two great ones today Stefan. That Dunlap is the epitome of what a panama should look like.
Thanks, Mike. I'm trying to find a worthy back-up for the Dunlap.

Congrats, Max. The opponents may have been too impressed by your hat and lost concentration!

Something a bit different today, a work hat. I’ve been wearing this Stetson shantung as my yard work hat for a couple of years. I was sure it would fall apart after just a couple of good sweat throughs. It is loosing it’s shape but holding up much better than I thought. As you can see from the pics, it got a good work out this morning removing a large branch that came down in a storm last weekend.

Thanks Stefan.

Another great two hat day. Still loving that Dunlap.

Thanks Red. I did hear some good music last night. Hopefully more to come today.

Thanks Max. I suspect it's from the '50s, but I have pretty much given up on trying figure out the age of hats. There is a Marathon thread around somewhere, not sure about one specifically for dating them.

Last night this '60s Royal Stetson went with to hear some tunes.

Thanks, Michael. Your Stetson seems like a trusty hat, but it can't stand in the shadow of the Marathon.

You did work a sweat, Richard. Good to have a reliable working hat to wear!

Are you seeing any of the California fire haze down your way? We can see a bit here in TX. I can feel it in my eyes, they're a bit more sensitive to it. Almost like allergy season, but only from fire haze. ;(
No, nothing we can notice... I doubt it would get all the way over here. I live and work in the mountains outside the rim of the Valley of Mexico, so even if it did, the smog from the city would make it unnoticeable.
The mountains you can barely make out all the way in the background of the picture are on the opposite side of the valley.

How do you like the quality and the large brim of the Akubra reef?

The quality is fine, except at my size they don’t offer it with a leather sweatband. If you’re a size 61 or smaller you get leather.

The Hemp is stiff and not like a fine Panama; however, it’s reasonably lightweight and comfortable. It can catch the wind and become a sail so not a good choice when it’s windy. I had a Balmoral before this and I like the Reef better...but not by much. I’m also a big fan of the Country Club and I don’t understand the vitriol polypropylene hats get. It’s as cool wearing as hemp or toquilla (as long as it’s well vented).
