My $5.95 Marathon today. I paid a bit more than that but it still has the price tag. I can't quite decide brim up or down but that may change by the day. I'm also not really sure about the thin band width and very tempted to put an 1-1/4"ish one on. It's lasted this way for a very long time and it seems almost wrong to change it. Hey 4man:
That’s a very nice classic styled hat. It appears to be in excellent condition and the ribbon matches the brim trim.
They are only original once, maybe for a long time but only once. I’d say wear it awhile and see if it wants a new ribbon.
It looks great brim down on you.
You asked. My take.

Difficult to say w/o knowing the dimensions but it's either a Strat or OR clone. It's meant to have a TR. looks great on you as is, up or down, I'd leve it.

My wife says you look good, Michael. I think I'd better keep you away from her. :)

A trip to the butcher and bread shop this morning found me wearing a Pendleton and a vtg.Stetson Stratoliner (pine green felt hue).

All great choices Michael. I really like that Biltmore straw hommie. Need one for "formal" wear in the heat.
Thanks Red. i have these in dark navy and black. The colors do rather lessen the efficacy in the sunshine, but they are good on a hot evening.

Not crazy hot today so my lightweight Portis New Slant will ride with me to campus. Even though this hat is lined, It is light as a popcorn fart. It should keep the sun off later this afternoon.

Still loving the New Slant. I need one of those to pop up around here.

Tell your wife Thanks. Enjoy the trip to Acapulco. You should be well hatted with those choices.

Thanks,
Michael

Wore my Sea Spray straw today. Whenever I wear it, i find my head sweats MUCH more than sans hat. Is it because the straw is bad? Doesn't seem to be doing much cooling! View attachment 125706 View attachment 125707 View attachment 125708

A very good quality, tightly woven straw will not let much, if any, air pass through, resulting in little to no cooling. You need air circulation to allow sweat to evaporate and cool you down.

When I look for straw hats, I try to balance the need for cooling with the need for shade for my follically-challenged head. Too loose a weave and I get a sunburned scalp. Too tight a weave and I might as well be wearing a felt.

I can see that your panama has some side vents. So some air circulation is occurring. I find if my straws are too tight they cause me to sweat more along the forehead. My "looser" ones not so much. Also, on really hot / humid days I go more for one of my straws that has a fabric sweatband, it really cuts down on me sweating as much.

I drove to Acapulco with my Milan on. I find it cuts down on the glare a lot, and for some reason, I dislike wearing sunglasses. Stopped for lunch at a typical Mexican restaurant in Cuernavaca, said to have the best weather in the world.
The last pics are of me, Ana, Sabrina, and a friend of hers. Ana is wearing the Milan Graham Thompson made for her. What a small head she has!
