The ribbon and bow are the best part!Looks good, John. I was a bit unsure about the ribbon to be honest, but it works wel!
Thanks EricRichard; Fine hat today. Your hat rack is getting populated with some very fine fedoras. Congrats. Thanks for sharing.
Michael; As usual well coordinated. " It's the way you ride the trail that counts."
Happy birthday Matt! Great Knox and, wow, what great history with that oneTo celebrate my birthday, I'm wearing my present that arrived yesterday.
Knox Superfine from the 1940s.
The hat belonged to Brigadier General Jerome J. Waters, Jr. Waters served in World War I as a Captain in the 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Division. During that service, he was awarded three Silver Stars for "gallantry in action" on July 21, 1918 near Villemontoire, France.
In World War II, Waters commanded an artillery training center in China to train nationalist Chinese (known as the Y Force) for defense against the Japanese.
After the war, Brig. Gen. Waters was warden at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in the early 1950s. There, he instituted significant reforms and was also taken hostage at knife point by inmates on one occasion.
He died in 1972. I was born in 1972. I can't help but feel that this has worked out nicely.
I also attach a few items related to Brig. Gen. Waters. In the group photo, he is front left.
Happy Tuesday.
Thanks CharlieDANG, there, Richard! Classic!! That Campbell is just souper!!! (Sorry... couldn't help myself.)
Thanks!Nice tilt.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Mike, great form and color on the Slats. That brown or maybe bronze ribbon really sets the felt off.Two hat day, going to dinner with the in-laws. Sunny out today, light tan jacket and slacks with my NW Hats Playboy clone. The Slats Gill is a perfect dinner guest.

I think it is more of a bronze. It is a vintage that Mike Miller has. Still working on the jaunty Hollywood brim curl like Slats wore.Mike, great form and color on the Slats. That brown or maybe bronze ribbon really sets the felt off.
