Running the last few errands before traveling to California tomorrow. 500 miles, Albany to Clovis to spend Christmas with the nieces (family too...). I'm so done... San Francisco Hatter with a center crease that is growing on me. Kind of a retro look from the early century (in my mind...)

It's in two pieces, crown and brim blocked separately and stitched together. Faux leather trim. The hat blocks were bought new from a German block maker whose name I cannot remember right now (old age?) and who no longer is in business.

The crazy spring of yesterday ended with a fall in temperature

Today Barbisio built in Sagliano Micca, historical factory of Biella hats manufacturer.

StraBarbisio shaved soft felt.

"Fixflex - felted board" stamped in gold on the sweatband. Bolivia color

Shark gill ribbon of the same color of the felt
Not to betray the tradition, the proportions are typical of an EU cap of 45 years ago
The hat was an old not sold stock of a Sicilian shop with, still inside, the warehouse label

Daniele, I guess I will catch you sleeping again today. Thank you for the compliments. Your hat today looked great, those shark gills are beautiful and I'm learning from looking at the pictures that usually the gills start at the side middle and move towards the back, is that correct?

Beautiful and summery... short sleeves?! Looking at the bow I see you don't tack the top and bottom corners on this kind of bow just the tip, I do the same, but I'm wondering if eventually they will start popping up...

Thank you very much Daniele. It's a bit larger than a fascinator but a bit smaller than a propper hat, so I'd say it's a cocktail hat. It's American, from the late 1950s.

Today almost became a miserable boring hat day, but then this black borsalino homburg happened:

That is a wonderful bow. I love fancy bows, the problem is finding a customer that appreciates them!

Cristina, Thank you! I have been told the stitches are supposed to be removed at point of sale. They are to help protect the ribbon / bow during stacking but in some cases they can do more harm than good.

Thank you all the information on the Printed Felt! It has a superb look. I think it might be Tonak because they have this capability. Also great to see the block you used to make the Cloche. It'a a super form!

It does make sense that they were to be removed, but after all this years I'm sure they would leave visible signs they were there. Great information thank you.

This is the last picture we took with the Pecan NW Hats fedora. A little rain, a little messing around with color filters and such. It doesn't yet show the tighter front pinch and the longer, somewhat wider side dents.
