The fur hats are from the barber for a trim the weekly growth and apologize.
They have promised that they will show next week
I take my cue from Steve and wearing an old homburg in wool

It was manufactured by Cappellificio Monzese in the capital of wool in Italy: Monza

It certainly has a consistency and quality in wool felt unobtainable today

For all lovers of homburg here's a product that still has life in spite of the wool and probably seventy years and still going strong

Thanks for your warm appreciations on fur Italian hats, now at rest in the barbershop
It is hard to believe that a wool hat (with my experience with cheap Bailey woolies) can have such a rich, wonderful finnish. It looks as good as any beaver felt you would want to see. Wow Daniele, you have opened my eyes once again.

Spectacular, Dan!!! Love to see what could be done with wool. That's a genuinely beautiful example, right there!
Since your fuzzy pets are at the groomer, I hauled out my cold weather special, also in need of a trim!

That, sir, is one fine cold weather hat. Can you turn the fur down over your ears? It would have been lovely to have here today. And tomorrow and the next day.... ad infinitum.

Even if that wonderful hat doesn't keep you warm, everything else you are wearing should. Man up.
It wasn't bad, in the car. Ha ha. My ears are tender little things and I don't want to end up like a feral Mn cat, with only stumps.

I see that so far only me and some guy from California of all places have tipped to the idea that a proper winter cap has earflaps.

Hey folks!
Heading out on a day trip to do some Christmas shopping. It has been windy and raining hard off and on for the last several hours, so I'm going with this Comte de Florence flat cap with thick quilted interior.

And ear flaps!

Have a great day!

Sent from thin air using electricity and other wizardry.
With ear flaps...of course! Kind of cool though, I saw one at my local Haberdasher and was tempted.

I can remove the fur, and put it anywhere, Mike. Truth is, this started out as a simple Faux Persian Lamb hat about 45 years ago, which was then augmented by a 50 cent rummage sale (also faux) fur collar, attached with safety pins. Not very impressive, when you think about it, but warm. Thanks so much!

Is this what you had in mind?

Now that is a proper winter hat.

And I applaud your ingenuity in making yours. I was going to buy a woman's full length Persian lamb coat last week with the idea of lining one of my overcoats with it. Someone bought it before it went on sale today. Darn. But now that I think of it they had a nice shearling jacket there. Maybe I should go get that and fashion it into a warm hat.
