Went for likely the last lawn mow of the year today, taking advantage of this very warm weekend. My go to yard work hat, a mid 70s Dobbs Safari.

Later, out and about in this favorite, a Dalton.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

Mrs Fed and I walked down 3rd Street, checked out a little antique shop for vintage hats. Nothing there for me and Mrs Fed wouldn't buy the ladies hat I liked...

So I went with a Stetson Gun Club 4X in silverbelly, and MrsFed opted for her seems-to-be-never-worn brown Champ. I really like the bash on this Stetson, but the hat is a might hard/solid for my taste. The Champ was $6.99, came in a Knox box. It goes to show there aren't as many people with small hat sizes looking for vintage lids.

last night in my 1890s topper-- sweatband starting to go...

Inquiring minds want to know your plans for it: just for display at home, put it in storage, donate to a museum, having the sweat redone (I know that may be sacrilegious and apologize to those who know better than I), or ?????

Around the house I wear the LL Bean/Stetson Moose River hat or the grey Champ...

The other night I came home in my still-not-quite-right brown Christy. I put the hat jack back into it, put on my twill FDR from Duluth Trading, walked back into the kitchen.

My wife gave me an odd look.

I wondered what I had done now. (Know the drill?)

She asked if I changed hats after coming in. When I told her I had, she said, "Well, I change my pants when I get home."

Thanks, Red! Did the ribbon myself. I liked the blue better than the brown one that was on it. I have come to appreciate the brown on gray combo now, but the blue has grown on me to the point that the hat looks wrong without it.

Reminds me of the looks I got when I said I was getting a dark/muted red ribbon on a steel gray felt. Now I'm trying to think of a new color combination since I'm not a fan of like-on-like.
