Mallory, for that smart youthfulness.

Fantastic... couldn't resist following suit.

I can't believe that the post office crushed another box. They are just the worst. I wrote all over the box, "DO NOT CRUSH," and made sure to put tons of bubble wrap in the box.

At least it wasn't damaged, I'm really glad about that. I have tried USPS, Fedex, and UPS....and there is always something that gets crushed. I will never understand it. The box weighed less than two pounds and I am sure that some postal worker didn't care enough to realize that if a 45 pound box is put on top of small 2 pound box...it will crush.

Knowing how well you package your hats for shipping I understand your ire. We have to keep in mind, though, that all the carriers use automation in moving mail and parcels around their sort facilities. It is likely a chance encounter rather than worker carelessness that caused the crush. A box within a box, or added interior walls of corrugated supporting a separate top cover add quite a bit of strength to the container.

Glad the hat has popped back - it looks great.

cheers,
Alan

Thanks Josh - this is a hat I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment from.

With the shipping, it is just so unpredictable. A eBay seller recently shipped me a hat in a very delicate original Stratoliner box that was just wrapped in brown paper. If arrived just fine.

Our shipping guy was rather amused by the crushed box with "Do Not Crush" in big letters. "Can't be a very tall hat" he said!

No problem though, the hat was back in perfect shape in 10 seconds or so.

As always with your sales, perfectly described and fair price!

Thank you very much for your compliments and thoughts, Gentlemen!

David: I am VERY glad that you will be getting lots of use out of the Stetson. Its a great hat with neat felt. Its not super heavy, but not super lightweight either. Most defnitely on the lighter side though and the semi-longhair finish really adds a nice touch. Also glad to hear that it popped back into shape so quickly! :) I just recently received a hat from England and the box was delivered in perfect shape. I guess its all the luck of the draw. [huh]

Alan: VERY true about the automation in the package process. I always forget about that. It always escapes me that machines have a major part in the separation process today. I have seen many careless package handlers....especially in Chicago, but for the most part I would say my packages arrive in fairly un-crushed condition. LOL. I usually only double box panamas when I ship them, but I might have to start doing that with soft felts as well. Most definitely going to add strength to my shipping containers next time. :)

Nice stingy Fogey,
Thanks Lefty, nice to see you here and there.
Alan, that Mallory is sweet, love the colors. And you do look quite young and smart today (not that you look any different normally of course).

Thank you, Charlie. I LOVE that Milan, man. Looks great! What is the brim/crown on that jewel?

Thanks, Harv! The brim is dimensional, at 2-1/4" in front, and 2-1/2" on the sides. The crown height in the very front is about 4-1/4" in front, 3-7/8" in back, and approximately 5" at the tallest point.

Good afternoon Gents! In a rush this rainy and breezy p.m. from Central Ohio. I have just enough time to say how great everyone looks, and to post a pic!

This is my most recent conversion and I'm still undecided about a ribbon treatment. I really like this hat, and it came out nice! Even with all the padding behind the sweat it's still too big for me. I think it's actually larger than a 7 1/4...I may pop it on my head anyway to watch the events in the evening sky after sundown tonight...Mars is at its closest distance from Earth since 2008 and will appear brighter in the sky than we normally see it...In the very early hours after midnight there will also be a Lunar eclipse....got the lucky hat! Hope it's lucky enough to clear the clouds out of the way so I can see everything....

David - stop showing me beautiful hats - I'm going to end up ordering a dark moss hat myself before too long ;) Lovely.

Harv - the CD looks great.

Andy - nice cap.

Kevlar - welcome to the forum. Now where are the photos :)

Hatguy1 - I think we've escaped snow this year, but you never know...

Charlie - definitely confident and casual :)

Sam - lovely Knox (and I like that shirt).

Daniele - the Mossant looks great. Spring doesn't make hat or clothes choices easy.

Perry - beautiful Mallory - I love the binding/felt combination.

Jhe888 - nice cap.

Joao - that hat shines!

Young Fogey - great stingie.

Alan - a second beautiful Mallory in 24hrs.

Terry - the shape looks good - time to decide on a ribbon :)

Richard, Perry, thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. I'm even now thinking about putting on the kind of ribbon as those on the Aussie Slouch hats. hmmmm....

Nice hat TJ looks good on you, I didn't know about the Mars being close but will stay up and try to see it. Bad weather here so it might be useless but will still give it a try, on vacation so no need to worry about getting up. Thanks for the info.
