Waning Days Of Summer

We love the distinct changes of season in Minnesota, but it also means that at most, I only have the few short but glorious months of June, July and August to wear my favorite straw hats.

Saturday morning, getting last minute supplies and props for filming. OPTIMO Montecristi.

Have driven by this gem of a neighborhood library, the St. Anthony Park Branch Library, for decades, and have always wanted to stop by for a visit. Finally did so Saturday afternoon!

Hauling equipment to our location early Sunday morning. OPTIMO Montecristi.

At the end of a very long day of shooting.

During the last 15 days I went to Florida and did a road trip all around the state. I took with me my VS Dualist.

It got a lot of success, I drop Art's name quite a lot (especially at shop in St. Augustine, I let the owner examine my hat. He was really impress).

Of course I made a stop at Orlando and found an impressive hat, XD

Looks like a wonderful trip through Florida. It is a wonderful place to spend a vacation.

That's quite a nice VS you have there.

Thanks Charlie and G. Durand (Nice thin ribbon by the way, I definitely understand not wanting to sweat up those nice old hats).

Speedracer, always nice to see you on here. The VS suits you better than the alien ;)

Thank you very much for the kind messages of commiseration. We are home now and happy to see Lily off and swimming upstream in new waters. I might need someone to come by and sprinkle bobby pins around the house. Our vacuum cleaner will be wondering what happened.

Just got this Forrest Bondurant style custom made from Eric Watson at Watson's Hat Shop in Cave Creek, AZ. Natural color 100% beaver with a copper ribbon.

I'd never heard of this maker. His site is very nice and most of the offerings are very well done. Yours is great.

Appreciating Lake Zug, Switzerland.

Amazing, as always

I'm wearing my Supernatural Milan in front of the SFSU library, holding the reciept for my MA thesis, which completes my masters degree!

Congratulations

1933 Rodgers Peet.

You continue to be an inspiration to me.

then Newt at The Royal/Optimo,

That's a beauty of a panama.

This morning I headed out for a hike in my VS Wanderer (silverbelly).

I love your nature photos and the way you always look so perfectly at home in the beautiful settings.

The last few days of widely varied weather have presented plenty of hat wearing opportunities.

and you seem to have picked the perfect hat for every day

We took a slow, rambling ride home through local roads in central O-H-I-O. Stopped to take a walk in Medina, OH before rejoining the highway.

I hope you stopped by the Medina Antique Mall, about 2 minutes from the exit. If not, you'll have to hit it on your next trip, then take the 20 minute drive through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park over to Akron, stop into Stan Hywet (hew-it) for a few hours, and meet me at The Blue Door - all of which you lead you right over to 77 which you can take up to 90.

I played with the brim a little and am happy with the result.

Great hats today guys!

Alan - looks like you were in a long long line there. Wasn't quite that bad for our first day at Drexel a couple of years ago, but the school being a city campus has its own challenges. We do have to move Em next month, but only half a mile or so - on a day of our choosing.

SRX - very nice photos of your Florida trip. As someone already mentioned, it is always good to see you and your fine hats.

HB3 - of the hats you post here, I like that Sportlite the best - by far!

Lefty - as usual very nice photos. I have to say, I totally copied your idea of the long rope for the dogs to fetch toys from the river or lake. Thanks for the comment on the Panama too. It is always great to get a bit of luck when stalking hats online.

Oh, having mentioned the Panama, I was enjoying it today on a beautiful summer day. The softest straw of my small Montecristi collection and a delight to wear.
