Today, I was a volunteer fire lookout in the Angeles National Forest. It was a bright, sunny day...so I don my Dobbs Harvey milan. (Or would a Smokey Bear campaign hat look better?)

It's a great choice. Thank you for helping with this important work. I've spent time working up on Mount Wilson... a historical treasure that remains available to us today thanks to some heroic forest fire efforts.

Outstanding choices all around today...

A good day for the P-boy, David!
JOB the comet is absolutely GREAT.
Kyle superb floating shot of that beautiful Hhiker.
Mr. Beecher, that hat is PERFECT.
I love the Strato, Hato!
GTD that silver buckle really dresses things up a notch!

The weather looks like potential precipitation. So, as I bolt (albeit slowly) out the door, the MacLachlan gets the grab. I like how this shirt color "pushes" the hat color from subtle violet/gray to decidedly blue/gray.

Richard - that "Rodney" is fantastic.

For me, my Hat People medium cut linen. Not sure if I'll ever like 8 panels. My face is just too narrow.

Don't give up on eight panel caps yet. I still think you can pull it off. It's just a matter of finding the right one. The ones you have are floppy and don't have a shape to them. I think you would do real well with something like a City Sport. That's one of the caps I wear and it has a shape to it....below is a City Sport for summer wear....

I do like the looks of this one - but it appears not in my size. I may look for a winter cap at this point...

Thanks!

To be honest, I've looked at the hat people site before. I was never impressed with their caps. Their caps have no shape. They just flop. You should also look into having Simonds or one of the other cap makers to make a custom one for you. Their prices seem to comparable to buying a Wigens cap. The difference being that you would get a better looking and better quality custom made cap going with one of the hat makers like Simonds. You've just been getting the wrong caps. I still say you can pull it off with the right one.

hatophile, I'm lovin' the Stratoliner my friend...a real classic!

hatsRme, I like the looks of that MacLachlan! How wide is the brim on that? It suits you well.

casechopper, love the Campdraft! Nicely done!

David - looking great in the playboy.

John - nice Tesi

HatsRme - I love the blue pugaree on that fedora, and the Maclachan is just beautiful.

GTDean - Nice colour to that Biltmore. You must have quite a collection of Open Road style hats.

Perry - I like the paler ribbon with the darker felt - makes a nice change.

Andy - it might be worth trying some starch or other stiffener on the cap to get it to sit more horizontally. If you're after a winter cap - I recommend these, and at a good price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Christys-Melton-8-Piece-Bakerboy-Cap-/380413698313

Sam - great ribbon on that Campdraft.

A day out up in London, with a morning visit to The Geffrye in Hoxton - a wonderful museum if you're interested in the history of domestic interiors:

It feels like I've only been gone from this thread for a few days, but WOW, I guess time flies. You guys have been showing off some incredible hats!! Eric, it's great to see your posts again! :thumb: To the newbies, welcome. :)

This is a Royal Stetson that I got from Robert about a month ago. No specific model, but it's thin, lightweight, and great for the warm weather. Reminds me of a Stetson Privateer. It's been steamed heavily and flanged a couple of times. Stiffness wears off within a few wears. I'll probably add some more when I get around to it. Fits like a glove!
