Lots of nice pictures today.

Josh, I was wondering if the gather in your bow was meant to be north of center and then noticed that Steve's Mayser has virtually the same design.

Bert - great picture. I think you could lose it a little further and add a larger platter to your beret collection. Good look for you.

My Buckaroo:

photo7-2.jpg

Girl at the convenience store where I, only occassionally, stop in to get a chicken biscuit, has loved my Stetson Saxon. Today, she commented that she really liked this hat, and noticed that it stood up taller and I explained that I just recently learned that this style is more like what LBJ wore and that it is actually older than the Saxon (which I learned last night is more of a 60's hat). Anyway, she thought it was cool that I wore more than one hat.

Which doves nicely into an article in our local paper today, a wire story actually, that there is an upsurge in men going for nicer hats, and some chain opened its 26th store in Minneapolis. Geurins" or something like that?

Sam, splendid Knox, that hat works fine for you!

Memphis, looks wonderful on you the Buckaroo, great story too!

Perry, well shaped Tilden, every day a good looking hat!

David, you wear a granate! Poww... what a sharp looking hat. That color is an eyecatcher.

Tom, Tim made a good Job on that hat! Very sharp!

Bert, that is a nice Beret what looks very good on you!

Javier, nice photo! Your Pilgrim looks great.

Mystic, nice stingy Knox.

Steve, your Mayser looks like new. I cant believe that he is from the 60s. Fantastic!

Eric, cool ribbon work, nice detail. That looks very good.

Josh, marvelous hat your Stephen Stetson and great work.

Robert, a wonderful hat, nicely shaped in a great color. The felt structure looks very good!

Rusty, thanks for the hat comment. Mike told me not to rush, but I see myself getting another hat, in the lighter grey or darker grey, with a larger ribbon. Sent the pic to daughter, she called me sheriff. Oh well, courtroom clerk said it looked great.

Yes, Commercial Appeal, like section B or C. You'll see it, if not, Ill grab the paper from the bin at home this evening and point it out to you. Had a pic in the Bygone days blurb of Abe Schwab cleaning out the hats from his window of his shop on Beale Street in 1990.

Great hats everyone and thanks for the compliment on my first beret. That black cherry color of David's will probably be the color for my first modern day hat whenever that day arrives. Casechopper, The 14.5" beret you posted the other day was amazing. I will be getting a 12.5" soon but no larger. My favorite Gray Knox for today sitting on my wife's latest creation.

Something happened to this photo 5 hours after I posted it. That is some quick aging!

Robert, thanks. I love this brand. Yes the Fabrics are great. This Cap is new and was a bargain for me. 12,50 EUR.
Normally you pay 70 - 90 EUR for a Wigens in Germany.
Some better pics.

Yes, one may not like all the styles, but the modern cap manufacturers are certainly alive and producing some quality products and a variety of looks. Of course caps are much easier to wear and store for cars, restaurants and workplace and have weaker historical associations than full-brimmed hats. Vintage styles are now available from manufacturers and individual craftsmen such as a number of F'Loungers too.
