I love your Panizza. I think I could love adding a white hat with black trimmings to my ever growing collection. Thanks Aureliano for posting.

You're welcome. When I saw this at the hat shop in Milan (Mutinelli) I snatched it without a second thought.

Hi my brother¡¡¡ With white hat, You seem like an italian, beautiful hats ¡¡¡

My grandmother (Mom's side) is Italian, from Milan. Half my family live there. I guess I'm somehow italiano as well ;)

Round Barn Winery & Wine/Spirits Tasting in Baroda, MI 9/11/2011

My fiancee', some friends, and I took a tour of the Round Barn Winery yesterday. We also went for some wine and spirits tastings. The barn itself was moved from a location in Indiana, but the wood structure inside was just amazing. The Winery is actually known for their Vodka which has won all kinds of awards and has beat some of the big boys in the market. Its the only Midwest Vodka made out of Grapes that has won any major award. They also make a Bourbon/Whiskey that is by far the best American bourbon I have ever had. I know...I know...a "Bourbon" has to come from Kentucky, but even though I love Jack Daniels, their Whiskey/bourbon was by far superior. You can only buy it at the Distillery or at the other two tasting centers they own. Its not sold in stores because its made in such small batches. I just love that in this day and age there are still successful small American "Ma & Pa" businesses and that in some parts of the country, big corporations haven't completely taken over. Just like custom artisan hats are wonderful, so are artisan wines and spirits. Here's some pictures of the Winery, the Round Barn, and the vineyards. It was such a gorgeous day yesterday in Michigan, but the company of friends......and wine, made it perfect.

Weekend Hat Bonanza

Summer may have passed us by, but unseasonably warm weather this weekend in Minnesota, and luck allowed me to indulge and wear straw one more time. It must have been my Mom and Dad, visiting from So. Cal, bringing the Zephyr along with them.

Photo credit for many of the pictures goes to my Dad. Thanks, Dad!

Early Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market in St. Paul. Just cool enough to wear felt. '20s-'30s Stetson Standard Quality.

Checking out the beautiful Indian Corn.

The first hat of my weekend windfall. Stetson Premier Panama, in box. Picked up the box initially thinking that it was empty, only to discover to my amazement that it contained a time-capsule condition Panama hat within. My heart nearly stopped when I saw the keyhole size tag: '1/2'. Asking price for the hat and box: $30.

The toquilla has developed an exquisite color despite sitting in a box, unworn, for the past sixty odd years.

Lee Silver Label, with felted edge.

My Saturday haul of felts, from different dealers at the same antique mall. From top to bottom: Stetson Stratoliner, Penney's Marathon, and Wormser. One of these lids set me back $7.

Fortune smiled upon me and brought along yet another size 7-1/2 Panama on Saturday. Penney's Marathon Panama, from the same antique mall where I found the Stetson Panama!

Sunday brunch with 'La Famiglia' at Yarusso Brothers, St. Paul. Penney's Marathon Panama.

Taking pictures of our raptor friends at the unique, University Of Minnesota Raptor Center.

Dad's reflection in my lens.

As happy as I am with the hat bonanza this weekend, the one purchase that everyone in my family agreed was the most interesting and beautiful, is a hat related item which I will post in another thread shortly.

AL... you are completely out of control!

Love the Stetson panama, but that old standard quality that started today is the standard for them all. What a great hat.

cheers,
Alan
