Although it seems the thin ribbons ruled the day.

It was so nice here in Arkansas , I broke out my milan straw Dobbs.

I suppose that's a short sleeve shirt too?

That Dobbs is looking real good. I sent mine off to Mike on Monday for him to reflange like that too. I know you'll be wearing mine for the drive over to Monteagle even if you have to tie it on with a string. I saw what you and John did to Tom's hat. lol lol lol lol

Thanks!

Yes we still have piles of it. :) I will send some over to you.

By the way great Stetson plus back drop. Where did you take the pic? It looks familiar but I can't place it.

I took the picture in front of Theatinerkirche, Odeonsplatz, Munich.

Cheers for the snow! It arrived this morning lol lol lol

Straws...again! I wouldn't dare to go out with straw here in Berlin. Snow is gone and even the sun is out today but the temperatures are still pretty grim.

All that aside: That's a beautful Dobbs, Rusty! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

And I also think it's great to see you in a wide ribbon every now and then! :D ;)

The farther back I go the more great hats I see! Lefty, that green Borsolino is one of the nicest hats I have seen...period. mayserwegener's homburg and Drespitz' bowler-both great. Scott Woods, joshbru, and Mr. E--Canadians aren't half bad lol . Rusty, you are in a category by yourself; its still winter and you are tormenting all the snow people with straws and short sleeves...shame!

Good idea, Deputy S! Maybe, I am too much used to belled British Bowlers (triple alliteration :) )I will try out your suggestions, next time.

This picture should be required viewing for all new Lounge members.
It would save us so many long, tedious discussions about the clothing
one must wear with hat X. There's yet another discussion of what to
wear with homburgs meandering along today.

As this picture shows, if the hat is right for the man, throw out the rules.
The combination here of super modern coat and of all things a BOWLER.
You will not find a guide to dressing which pairs a black bowler with a
safety green and reflective Royal Mail storm coat.

Still leaves open what does make this work. The match of face and bowler?
The attitude of the wearer? The coat collar? Usually one reads that a
black bowler should be work with black or dark gray...

My vote is for a good match between man and hat.

In any event, thanks.

Agreed, feltfan.

BTW, I'm loving your recent hat philosophy posts. While I enjoy today's "unified theory of man and hat", it might be hard to beat the "purity of the thinnest ribbon/evil lurks behind the bow". :)

A different 3X Open Road today -- this one's brim down all around. I love ORs with that light green thin-ribbon.....;)

Off to visit my mom. I know I said I was gonna wear my Derby today but my Jaxton Pinch Crown just called out to me.

Enjoy it while it lasts. I won't be recovering and tapering off Dilaudid
forever...

On the other hand, after some 10 months of cranky or brief posts here,
an enjoyable break from minor medical stresses, I should soon be back
to more substantive contributions. To say nothing of all the large size
stuff I've been wanting to sell...
