Well it does stink that so many of us thin ribbon aficionados are the same size 7 1/4, as we likely bid against one another on eBay, but we also have the benefit of trading with and buying hats from each other, which to me, has made this hobby/obsession all the more fun.
And FAR's too. That's why I don't jump into the feeding frenzy... I can't compete with you guys though I occasionally would just like to get just one hat sometime... OR...I can just wait for you guys to get tired of 'em... :)

The hat is a Gannon, which should be on its way. It took a while for him to obtain the felt, which is actually a navy blue. The brim binding is in a matching blue and the ribbon is one inch, steel gray.
I spent a long time picking ribbon to try and maximize the blue look of the felt.

I almost went with a one inch burgudy, but some female advice was that this look was more understated and emphasized the felt, whereas the burgundy was too much about the pop of the ribbon color.

Changing topics, I have looked at the blocks you recommend, but when using with the sweat still in, isn't it loose in the body of the hat? Or if the body is tight, isn't it too tight at the sweat?
Congratulations on a gorgeous Fedora. Its going to look incredible.

Beautiful. I think the ribbon advice might have been a good thing, but either would have worked nicely.

The block is purposely a tad loose to accommodate the hats with the sweats. (It is actually most often used as a hat stand.) The thinking was in use as a shaping tool that I might pad the crown area if needed. But I have worked several hats without needing to pad it. (I do leather work and have also seen hat blocks with leather and other materials attached so this was an option - as was buying another block. Took the old creases out well enough even a little loose.

Might buy another for a project to heat and reshape the block to a long oval.

Hobbies...

Arrived today! RM Williams version of the CampDraft.

The photo is a bit light due to the flash -- deep chocolate brown with almost gray ends on the felt. Great effect.

The rear is only very slightly flanged as it is intended to be turned down. Just as I like it.

It is very well made - without the pouncing issues near the hat band that I saw on some other CampDrafts about a year ago. A tad stiff, but it will break in with use.

And this one fits perfectly! No more dangling over my ears.

Quite pleased with this one. Spent a bit of time reshaping the crease (Photo shown above is as received.) The factory look was nice, but does not go with my look and I like them to be mine.

Here it is after a bit of reshaping the crease.

Might give the BGG a bit of competition for wear. The MoonStone is pouting already.

Waiting on the Peters Bros. Milan Hemp Strat. I ordered the Indy brown with a dark green band, but I keep wondering if I shouldn't have gone for a natural with a black ribbon and brim binding. I hate to be a waverer and it drives me crazy when my wife does stuff like this, but I'm wondering if it isn't too late to call them. Maybe I should take a poll.

I was thinking that as I typed, but I'm also thinking about doing a little travelling in the near future. Now that I think further about it, Uncle Sam should be sending me a check in the next week or so. Hmm. You guys are a really bad influence.
