Mister Carberry, shame on you. Not much of a gentleman, saying things like that to a young lady...

I apologize for my boardmate, folks. He's like this at a couple others we both frequent, too... ;)

I was trying to be complimentary without being dismissive of her own views. Encouraging yet empowering.

Sue me for being a modern-day sensitive type. :D

Oh yeah... I was here first, I think they have me figured out by now. lol

I have an image handy at the moment, so I figured I'd post it. I'm wearing a very non-vintage motorcycle jacket -- please forgive me! I'll coerce someone with a camera to take a picture of me wearing normal attire in the near future.

MissLizzy, I am MORE than in LOVE with that GORGEOUS DRESS!! (enough caps there? :p)

:D Thank you! It is rather lovely, isn't it? The beaded bit is taken from a 40's ballgown that no longer fit and I invented the rest with a very talented local seamstress - she must be in her 70's - and as I was describing what I wanted she said, 'Ava Gardner'! She was right on the button!

I'm planning to wear it out - even though it was my wedding dress - as I love it so much! It will next be seen on Saturday night at Viva Las Vegas!

What do I look like? Like the shmuck in my avatar of course. Of course it had to be one month -after- grad that I discovered this whole concept of vintage suits and clothing. The entire night I was wondering why my suit jacket was so uncomfortable and constricting.

Aw, naw. I wear my straight boring-o hair most of the time. See:

That's even my hair being wavy since I'd had it up earlier in the day when it was still wet.

Believe me, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Even in my av..my hair is most definetely not in a vintage style! nor is it most of the time anyways! That's what makes it so interesting and great in here is that, you have ladies (and gents) who live the vintage lifestyle, some who dabble, and those who are curious. I'm finding it takes MANY hours of practice (unless you're a natural at make-up and hair-do's) to get the 'look' just right!
You look like an absolute doll! With you joining in here, that in itself shows you've got good taste!;)

See, Emma? No filth at all! (No matter what carebear says...)

As for me, I'll give this thread another try:

I shot this one for a magazine cover project. The one that eventually made the cut was... a tad more disturbing.
