I work three 12 hour graveyard shifts a week, Sunday PM through Wednesday AM (the good news is once that's over, I have the rest of the week to do with as I choose. And hey!- as I type this I just noticed my work week is half over)
I work in "Computer Operations", which is about impossible to explain to someone who's not done the work.
Going to computer cameras & editing system after years with the
old betamax camcorders and editing was a sheer nightmare.
Especially when the stories had to be ready for the 5 PM live news.
An expert came in for just one week to give us a crash course.
That wasn’t enough time. The newscast was a disaster.
Somehow I managed to learn the language of “computers”.
The fact I was not fired according to my news director
was because I persevered while others gave up.
She also liked that I always came back with good video &
sound bites.
The fact that I had the habit of requiring food daily and a place
to sleep might have had something to do with my motivation!
