Last night with dinner, which consisted of bacon wrapped shrimp barbecued over mesquite and oak, we enjoyed sazeracs! Rye, bitters, and lemon twist, in an absinthe lined glass!

I give that a "like" and I am not even a fan of shrimp. "An absinthe lined glass." Wow! And pour me a double.

How is that?

Corpse reviver
1 oz Hendricks Gin
1 oz cointreau
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz Lillet Blanc
a few drops of herb saint, pernod or absinthe (if you have some)

shaken with ice poured in a cocktail glass with a stemless maraschino cherry

Delicious and refreshing on a warm spring evening
Mind numbing if you are not careful

How is that?

Decent. Much milder than the only other rye beer I've tried, which was the Sierra Nevada seasonal.

A few shots of Four Roses single barrel bourbon whiskey

Last night I cracked open a bottle of Bowmore Old Darkest 15 single malt I bought a few wks ago on sale. After not being overly impressed with the first couple of drams neat I added 3-4 drops of water to the next dram & it opened up & improved all around. It's early in the bottle so my opinion may change but there is better whisky for the money.
