What color hat to wear with a blue suit?

Seems to me that a grey or black hat would be optimal with a dark blue suit.

My taste runs to darker grey hats when wearing a navy suit. I have a light grey Whippet, and sometimes it looks a bit Capone-ish to me when I wear it with darker clothing. But I'm not ready to pop for another one (yet) just to have a dark grey.

As for the question about brown shoes and hat with a navy suit - I've never been able to convince myself that brown is a correct accessorizing color for navy. I wear only black shoes and belt with navy or grey. I don't think I'd be comfortable wearing my dark brown Whippet with a navy suit, either. But that's me.

I have seen one or two people wear dark brown shoes with navy slacks, and although it looked "OK", to me it never looks as good as well-polished black shoes.

Try cordovan shoes with the blue suit. It'll change your whole perception of the "brown shoes/blue suit" paradigm!
