IC, I see your reputation as a CAO supporter has reached the highest levels of the company itself. A free t-shirt is the least they can do. :p ;)
Bundle, box its just a matter of what they want to call it I guess. Funny thing is, I have seen bundles tied in boxes. :eusa_doh:
And I have seen boxes of 5, 10, 14, 20, 25, 50......:p lol

Just got in a box (10 cigars IC;) ) of La Gloria Cubana Tainos. Looking forward to this weekend that is for sure. ;) :D
Bolivar Royal Coronas are pretty darned good to me RB. ;) I take it you don't like the peppery/earthy taste as much as the leather, cedar and coffee. :D Didn't the Royal Crowns used to be named Charles? Whatever the case, for the price they are excellent---both the RC and PC.
If you think this is cigar steamrolls your palate then you need to try the Partagas D4. The Bolivar is a baby next to the D4. The D4 is the blow your head off cigar next to it. ;) :p
I don't care for peppery either, love the leathery, cedar, coffee.:D

Is the D4 anything like the black or Spanish Rosada? I have had those but do not know of the D4.

Oh and the NUB I had was kinda spongy and would not produce much smoke, maybe I should test a 2nd one.

Tonight I had the Oliva Series G Connecticut shade and Deelovely had the Padron Londres. After half of the Oliva I had some of the Padron and it did seem stronger. Of course the Conn. seemed pretty mild...[huh]

Looks as if some of this thread was lost?
Last night, had my first in almost a week.
It was a new brand, a Dea available at MD Cigars in Yuma, Arizona, just yet.
It was a double corona, something I don't normally smoke, but I knew I had almost two hours during my older son's baseball practice. I've had the other sizes and I like them.

No, the Partagas Serie D4 is a rather strong cigar from that exotic island. It has a diferent taste than the Roasada. It is comparable to the Cohiba in taste and strength. I think you would like the taste as it is not like the Bolivar Royal Corona. ;) :p

Geez, now I am really going to have to try the Cameroon last. If you have another try it and see if it is different. Perhaps I should try one just to see if I get the same result.
Nah, I'll stick one of my friends with it and see what he thinks. If it doesn't kill him then I might try it. :p I have to be careful though because he might be wary after I slipped him the Hoyo de Dogrocket last time. ;)

The posts weren't lost. They just can only be viewed when you hit the post reply button and go to that window. Scrolling down will reveal what is missing otherwise. Copy the text of that which you are replying to. Use the quote icon and paste the text in. Exactly what I did to your post. ;)
Ok now back to cigars. Dea? I never heard of them. How was it? :D

Heh, sorry about the double-post on the Boli RCs, but that was before I had figured out the screwed-up new post viewing business that's going on here, so I couldn't remember if I had posted that yet or not.

JP: I have had a couple PSD4s, they were pretty darn good, but I didn't find them to be as overpowering as the RC. Funny how everyone tastes things differently, isn't it? Or it may be that the RC was just really fresh, and the PSD4s had some age on them. I got them both in trades, so I don't know when they were rolled. My favorite robusto, though, is a RASS; I find a really nice tangy flavor to them.

Anyway, I had a BBF (Bolivar Belicoso Fino) Friday night, and that sucker was another killer. It was damn good, though! :D I definitely liked it better than the RC. Last night I had an Ashton San Cristobal Guajiro - it was decent, but I can't get too excited about these cigars. I think I have about three more in the humi, which I'll leave for a good long while to see if I like them any better towards the end of the year, but unless they really change I don't see myself buying any more in the future.

Well, I got around to trying out the Nub Connecticut wrapper torpedo Friday. It was super mild. It burned evenly; had a great draw and hung an ash almost as long as the cigar. It just had a smoking air quality to it that didn't appeal to me much. Yes, there were light leathery and flowery flavors but it had no power or complexity.[huh] I guess I will judge all of the Nubs by their Habano line now. :eusa_doh:
Sunday found me with a La Gloria Cubana Taino in hand. It burned evenly but had a tighter draw than I would have liked. They really know how to construct them though. The wrapper was beautiful and the cap was a work of art. It started out with coffee and cedar and finished with hearty leather and earthy tones. It got stronger near the end. :D :eusa_clap

Regards,

J

If the RC was fresh, then it might have still been in what old Nee called the sick period. I doubt you would have gotten it at that stage though. The fairly strong ammonia smell would have alerted you to it right away. That goes away after a few months anyway and a trade and arrival tends to take longer than that. ;)
You certainly cannot discount age though. cigars generate great flavors and aromas just by sitting due to continued fermentation of the tobacco. The bitterness and taste of rough nicotine tend to mellow. The PSD4 would certainly benefit from careful aging in a good environment. It would be spectacular, in my opinion, after about three years.
The bolivars tend to be strong. You just can't get away from it. :p Just one of the reasons I like them. ;)
What didn't you like about the San Cristobals? Maybe aging would help?[huh]
