What monk strap shoes are those? Are they a double strap? They look fantastic!

Thanks, Dan. They are double-straps, and are made in England by Sanders & Sanders for E.T. Wright. I bought them from a guy on Style Forum who ran across some at a clearance store somewhere. However, Amazon also has them on clearance right now.

The 1950s sundress I posted last night in the Powder Room purchases thread, narrow black belt, cute black wedges from Payless, a pale yellow 1950s cardigan, hair pulled back in a low ponytail and tied with a black chiffon scarf.

Yes, they are Goodyear welted. There have been some claims that Sanders & Sanders is making some of Brooks Bros Peals shoes. I don't know if that's the case, and these Wrights are probably not that nice, but still quite good for the price.

I had thought I might try to get a pair of Mora seconds at some point, but this has scratched my double-monk itch until I can afford John Lobb Paris . I would love to get a nice pair of single monks, though.

Man, I'm going to have a hard time restraining myself from those. Are they corrected-grain leather?

No, at least not in the 'polished cobbler' sense. It seems comparable to AE leathers to me.

A vintage experiment today - green/brown two piece, tailored in the late 1950s/early 1960s (?) by John Collier. 2-button notched lapel, 4-button cuff, 3" lapels, ventless, trousers buttoned for braces with a slight fishtail back and 1 3/4" turn-ups. My first 2-button notched lapel, and rather out of my period, but I'm testing it out.

Worn with:

lemon yellow oxford semi-spread double-cuff shirt from Catto & Carter

vintage Gieves and Hawkes geometric patterned tie

khaki silk handkerchief (picking up a colour in the tie)

art deco sun ray gold cufflinks

mustard boxcloth Thurston braces

chestnut Oxford "Twyning" brogues from Loake

green velour "Hannay" fedora from Herald & Heart

Thus:

Interesting cuff button detail:

It used to be Detroit....
The usual blue shirt, khaki trousers, saddle shoes and argyle socks plus my very first piece of vintage clothing - a red tie with black and white paisley designs. Now I really feel like a member of the club!

It's warm and muggy in Fort Worth today, but there's also the possibility of rain - so I've prepared either way. No pics yet - perhaps later on.

Cordovan shoes
J. Peterman tan linen drawstring pants
Nordstrom point collar shirt
Vaguely palm-leaf print red & tan tie
J. Peterman brown & cream striped linen belted-back jacket
Mid-brown Akubra Federation, teardrop crown.

Didn't want to wear a straw on account of the rain.

Today was my cousin's confirmation.

I wore my navy 40s DB suit, with black cap toe shoes, a light blue shirt and a modern tie I resewed to vintage dimensions.

Regards,
Henrik
