I've been meaning for a long time to get myself a pair of Mexican-made huarache shoes. Closed front, possibly laced, and car tire soles.
If I can find those I'll be a very happy guy.
They have them everywhere (and I Sincerely mean EVERYWHERE - even in the liquor stores on the corner sometimes), here in Southern California. I got mine at the swap meet for about $20. USD All leather construction. Super fresco in the heat, or when you're too lazy to tie or buckle a real shoe or pull on a boot! Hahaa!

Yes, the picture was taken with the laptop's webcam, which has a very low resolution. Plus, office lights are making that worse.
The lapels are indeed very nice, great shape. I had a kerchief in my pocket but I forgot to put it back after blowing my nose when I took the photo!
I will try to take a better shot of cufflinks and yes, I use collar stays while I don't wear hats.
Oh yeah; those lap-top web-cams are Always the worst! Right?! Yeesh! You figure if they were going to try to spy on you through your electronic devices that they'd do a better job of their hard-ware ;P Juuuust Kiddin! But yeah. Seriously; Top Notch (Peaked - haha!) lapels! What would you call the color? More blue, or gray, or slatey? Couldn't really make it out, pattern? How's the rise on the corresponding trousers? Do they have cuffs or pleats? What sort of fold or puff do you typically use with your pocket linen? Also (Applause - over here, for actually USING your pocket linen! Bravo! It reminds me of His Girl Friday; "Production for Consumption; manufacture for use - Lol!). OK, that last aside was getting a bit long. Were the cuff-links silver or gold, silk, or some other interesting material or make? Please inform. Oh, and the French Cuffs, mitered, squared, or curved corners?

No hats, ever? But the Sun, and the elements, and your American Right to dress like you're from the Golden Era?! Heh. Looking forward to your reply Sir! Those lapels really ARE Captivating! Back to coffee now. Have a Great Day!

Immaculate, as always! You have considered some split toe spectator loafers in tan and ivory (the ivory being perforated leather or stiffened linen)? I also saw an Extremely interesting pair recently (sadly ruined at a thrift shop) that had tan leather with dark charcoal gray linen and ivory lining of all things. They didn't even look over-dyed. Also, how do you handle the whole sockless thing. I just have never been able to cross that bridge. I think my Great-Grandmother would come back from the grave and slap me if I were to try. Or, do you were sock-lets?

Thanks Evan.

Spectators ofcourse would look fantastic although not too fond of the colours I have (mostly white and brown/whiskey shades) and the kakhi olive colour of the trousers, so decided for black slip ons.

I detest sock-lets and do not have them, but as I wear all-leather shoes (outer, inned and sole), and quality shoes I may add, sockless has never been a problem, ever. COmfortable as a slipper (which of course you wear sockless). Of course this is only summer wear and never ever in winter or inbetween seasons.

Russet is my favorite color for spectators. It seems to avoid that damnable wash out effect that the paler shades of spectators are so prone too when worn in conjunction with the typically pale Summer wardrobe.....I also like black ones, but only in certain circumstances. If the tan were rich enough, it would actually complement the olive/stone tone of the trousers rather well, with the right pair of socks worn in conjunction. I salute you, but I honestly don't think I'd feel comfortable without socks. I agree on the sock-lets though; yuck in a general and profound way. Hahahaa! Spot on Sir! Have a Great day! Have you ever considered olive brown (leather) and dark reddish-tan linen or buck spectators? I think it might be very interesting if available.....I remember seeing a very similar pair back in the 90s....Hmm.

Thanks Evan, to be honest I was mostly unsure of the offwhite of the spectators not fitting with the khaki rather than the brown/tan. I am actually not too fond of that colour (khaki) so I take it cautiously.

I think that when you live in such a warm and sunny country, sockless is a natural progression (but again, only if you wear quality all leather shoes)

I'd love to have a spectators with linen or canvass base contrast but it is hard to find the material for the very small/minute quantities I make.
You have yourself a wonderfull day too mate

I see that the pictures shows almost nothing about colour! The suit is a medium grey, on the lighter side, with very faint light pinstripes. I'm not sure about the colours of the stripes, but they seem to match the shade of the suit. Overall, it is more like a "steel grey" rather than a "stone grey", if you get what I mean (colder colour).
Trousers have single pleats with plain hem and medium-high rise with belt loops. I'm not a fan of extemely wide trousers, so the pleats are moderate and the legs only measure 8.5'' at hem (I wear a 5.5/6 UK shoe size!), with a gentle taper.
French cuffs are of the traditional squared sort, cufflinks are silver with a spiral design on them.

Today; vintage Colonial RL High-Rise double pleated and cuffed ivory twill, side tabbed trousers, palest putty linen half belted (back), with two pleated and flapped breast pockets, and pleated and flapped hip pockets (unlined), notch lapel with storm latchet, 3 button, single vented and fly cuffs with turn backs sport coat, white Anto point collar in poplin, black twill 1930s silk tie in matte tied in a 4 in hand, ivory chunky knit sport casual knee-high Summer socks, putty colored smooth leather plain toe Oxford shoes with full Vibram soles and narrow gauge ivory silk flat laces (vintage - recently acquired), and trusty old Panama hat with black band. Also, assorted silver and white gold Art Deco jewelry and my requisite LARGE cup of coffee with too much heavy whipping cream doused into it.....Still waiting on the arrival of my new Natty Spear-Point collar dress shirt with the same relative specs as my last dove gray end on end one. It would have been perfect for today. Tropical weight shirting HEAVEN. Next time. Tomorrow....Perhaps my vintage ivory and cognac English seersucker 3 pc?

A couple of years ago I became interested in huaraches but was surprised to find so few on either the bay or on Amazon. The ones you do see seem to range from about $40-50 a pair, and then very little before you get to $125-150 a pair. I opted for the cheaper ones with the idea that they're supposed to be for peasants (like me), what with used tires for soles and all. The ones I got are those that you see most of on the ebay page (men's huarache sandals) and they've been very serviceable. This thread has got me thinking, though, and I might just go for a very dark brown pair that I just saw. Huaraches really are the best bet, both for looks and for beating the heat, in warmer weather.

I'd say just get them at your local bodega or swap meet. They have them everywhere here in Southern California for about $20. I usually opt for the saddle tan colored ones, or sometimes the russet ones. I only wear them with Extremely casual stuff, for sitting around at the house, or walking at the beach or some such though.

I see tons of basic style huaraches on ebay or etsy, but I'm looking for a more refined type, with closed front, and lace up, that I could wear with a casual attire. Like these babies right here:

They sell those on or near Olvera Street in Down Town LA by Union Station. Probably run $65 to $100 USD. Maybe a little over, maybe a little under. To be fair though, I wouldn't necessarily consider those as true huaraches, as they are no longer sandals, but now actual shoes. I'd categorize those more as braided, or woven leather shoes. I remember years ago having a pair of woven leather lace up plain toe bluchers in russety-tan. Very fresh in the Summer's heat, but just too casual for me to pull off on the regular. Can't remember what I ever did with them though. They had leather Goodyear welted soles and leather stacked heels though, so true leather shoes with an arch and everything. They work wonderfully with Viyela socks at keeping you fresh.

I saw something similar on ebay. They're on the second page under the title "Men's closed toe Cerrado dark brown dress sandals."

Claudio, is the claw-collar wholly of your own devising, or is it based on an unusual historical design? I've never seen one like it before, it's very intriguing. I love your jackets, too.

Haven't seen any at markets here in Miami, probably because there are fewer Mexicans here. As for dress shoes, I just picked up two new woven styles from Allen Edmonds, the Shreveports and the Leiden Weaves, both of which are now on sale. They're really perfect for a tropical city like Miami and for a tropical style consisting largely of linen. Lounge member Eric (Short Balding Guy) just posted a few days ago a very nice pair of vintage weaves on the "Show Us your Shoes" thread, btw. One thing I'm finding about the woven shoes is that they get a great many compliments when people notice them.

The ones I posted are from Taller De Huaracheria Dimas in Cihuatlán, Mexico. They have a facebook page, but it's quite out of date and I never got a reply to a message I sent them. Sooner or later I will finally try and give them a call, hoping that they hablanos English (or Italian!).
